He already had alot going on, being cheated on over and over again, all he ever wanted was a daughter, a family more like but it never happened.
By the time he was 18. Living alone in a massive mansion. Knowing the only way this was going to work was going to an adoption centre. A week later they called him and said he was going to adopt a 10 year old girl. The day they met was the happiest say for Damien. Maya on the other hand was backing away. He didn't know why.
The lady said there was nothing to worry about "she's just nervous, it's her first time in a new home". But hearing that made him curious as to why.
After she left. Maya ran upstairs to god knows what room. Damien followed behind in case she fell since the floors weren't carpet.
She didn't speak the entire day. Hiding in the corner.
Dinner was on the table, calling her down. She didn't respond. Calling 2x didn't help either, till he went upstairs with the food. Only to find her with tears across her face.
"Thank you, daddy"
Hearing those words from her made him drop the plate. Breaking it she jumped thinking something bad would happen.
" please don't hit me, I'm sorry daddy"
Reality hit him as he realised what he did to her.
"Wait what no no maya" kneeling towards her "sshhsh, I'm not gonna hit you" hugging her to distract her.
" you promise" she said while putting the pinky up.
"I promise".
After that she was no longer afraid of him.
Till one night he came to pick her up from school. A 16 year old. Who knew it would be the last time he ever saw her.
