"Understandable."

"No, you don't fully understand. I'm the youngest in my friends circle and I will never get to be the hyung!" Taehyung said in frustration. "Do you have any idea how frustrating it is? They never allow me to pay a bill and there's no one for me to spoil rotten. It's always like, 'Yah! I'm the hyung!'. I badly want to pull that card and I never get a chance. I work so hard and have no one to shower them with."

Jungkook snorted. "The real reason, hyung. I'm sure these are all contributing factors, but that couldn't be everything." He still couldn't believe Taehyung would want him as his family.

"What makes you think there's more?" Taehyung cocked his head to the side.

"Something you mentioned about this society and the likes of Na-Ra." Jungkook tried to pry.

"Ah, you caught that, didn't you?" Taehyung tried to laugh it off but when Jungkook stared at him silently, he said, "That too. It's a combination of all things, you know."

"And you keep staring at me with that distant look in your eyes too," Jungkook added.

"No, I don't."

"Yes, you do."

"I don't."

"You do."

"Fine, I do. But what makes you think I have something in my mind?" Taehyung shot at him.

"I don't know. Just the gut feel," Jungkook mumbled. "When we met at the club for the first time, you won't stop staring at me. But unlike others you looked as if you had an epiphany. Then back at the apartment too, you were deep in thought."

"You're dangerous," Taehyung muttered. "This is why silent ones should never be underestimated."

"Are you gonna answer me or not?" Jungkook sassed.

"You ask a lot of questions."

Jungkook shrugged. "From my place, it's hard to trust something that's freely given. No amount of assurance feels enough because there's always this lingering doubt that makes me question everything. Nothing good ever happens to me, you know?"

"Understandable. Maybe, but it doesn't have to be that way all the time." Taehyung effortlessly careened through the traffic. "We live in a ruthless society, Jungkook. The Park family is capable of protecting you, but there are things beyond their capacity. For example, this society. You told me to forget Yoongi hyung is an alpha." He shifted the gear, his face taking a serious look. "Do you have any idea how this society treats the same gender couple? An alpha x alpha purebred pair is rare and nearly unheard of," his voice was barely above a whisper. He took a deep breath and suddenly the sullen mood was gone. "There's nothing like having a family, you know? Even though I have parents, I'm more like you. So this would allow us to have each other's back. Us, against this society. How cool would that be?"

"You're afraid you'll have no one left," Jungkook whispered. He never thought about the same gender couple though he was aware such relationships weren't openly accepted. Shit. He had marked Yoongi hyung. They were already mates.

"Kind of." Taehyung tried to play it cool. "Maybe my parents will disown me."

Once again he sounded distressed but he was very good at masking his emotions. His scent did not waver a bit. That only showed he has been hiding his true emotions for a long time. He tried to laugh it off.

"But don't worry. I've earned enough for myself to survive the rest of my life. I don't need them anymore. However, I really do think you'd make an awesome little brother. Also, I've seen Jimin both heart broken and smitten. Let's say I don't want to see him heartbroken ever again. So if you're my brother, I can whack your ass if you hurt him by any means. Likewise, I can smack his head if he hurts you. Win-win."
