Jimin put a hand on his shoulder and squeezed. "Fucking finally." He didn't think Taehyung would come to his senses this soon. He thought he had a long way to go to make Taehyung see the light in front of him.
"Do you mind if I adopt him? I wasn't kidding when I said I wanted him as my brother," Taehyung suddenly asked. He removed the jar and began to pour the contents into three glasses. Once done, he went on to plate the assorted fruits neatly onto each place.
Jimin blinked. So that wasn't just empty words. "Why?" He didn't understand.
"A wise man once said you can create your own family. I'm like Jungkook too, in a way." Jimin cocked his eyebrow and Taehyung's shoulders slumped. "We come from a different background and I know our lives aren't the same, but there's something that makes me feel more connected to him. When I met him in the club, I felt something I never felt before. Kind of protectiveness? That's new, you know? And I'm always alone. I'm afraid I would have no one by my side when I die."
"Taehyung," Jimin growled. "What do you take us for? You'll never be alone as long as you have us."
Taehyung smiled sadly. "I know. I know." He sighed. "Still, it'd be nice to have someone like Jungkook as a brother, you know. We could have each other's back. The last time I got into an accident, the hospital won't even allow any of you to see me because you weren't family. And my supposed family was too busy traveling to even care." His eyes teared up. "But with Jungkook, I know he wouldn't let me be alone if I'm in a similar situation. And then as my brother, he'd always have financial security and a place in this society. Your mother or people like Na-Ra cannot look down on him. I thought about everything, you know?"
Jimin exhaled. He watched his best friend carefully decorate the breakfast tray with everything he prepared. "You do know I'm already providing him everything he needs. Once he marries me, he'd never need any of that."
Taehyung shrugged. "But you know my idea will give him a family too. And...will give me a family too. Is it too bad I want my soul mate to be legally my family? Like your pups would have an uncle?" He suddenly beamed. "It's a win-win. What do you think?"
Jimin stared at him. "You already fixed your mind, didn't you?"
"As soon as I met him in the club and realized he could be your one and only." Taehyung grinned. "Jungkook needs someone to walk him down the aisle, doesn't he? I'll give him the wedding of this century, bro. It'll be so big and fancy that no tongue will ever rise against him. And imagine when you have pups, you will have someone cool as me as their uncle. Oh, God, I'm already excited. Who wouldn't like the actor Kim Taehyung as their family? Can't you see where I'm coming from?"
"Fine." Jimin chuckled fondly. "You have made your point. Talk to Jungkook and see how he feels about this. He's twenty-one already so I'm not sure if it still can be called an adoption but yeah."
"Don't worry about that. I already talked to Attorney Kim and he said I can do it under a special clause," Taehyung said happily. "I just need Jungkook to agree."
Wow.
"Okay." Jimin smiled. Once Taehyung set his eyes on something he wasn't going to stop until he had achieved it. He could tell his idea was genuine and maybe he felt like he should cling to at least one good thing in his life.
He understood where Taehyung was coming from. Growing up, he always longed for loving parents. But quality time wasn't something his parents ever considered. Even in school, Taehyung always longed for other's company. Being alone made him depressed.
While Jimin was capable of providing everything Jungkook needed, perhaps a family would be a nice idea. This way, he'd have someone to rely on other than him.
