I pick up my phone and dial the number.

Guy: Hello, Hubby for Hire, this is Samuel.

Me: hey, Samuel. I would like to hire someone for a wedding.

Samuel: Sure. I'll need your name, the dates for the wedding and if you want to have sex.

Me: Oh, God, No, no sex.

I shudder at the thought.

Samuel: Dates.

Me: The wedding is on July 11th. So, I need him from 8th July to 13th July.

Samuel: Name.

Me: Valentina Rodriguez.

Samuel: I'll have my employee give you call. Can I get your number.

I rattle my number off the guy and then hang up.

My phone rings and 'Mum' flashes across the screen.

I let it ring a bit longer.

Me: What do you want?

Mum: That's not a nice way to talk to your mother.

I scoff.

Me: You're not a mother. If you were I wouldn't have just received the flaming Wedding Invite.

Mum: We didn't want you to have enough time to come up with a 'NO!'

I roll my eyes.

Me: Have you ever asked what happened between James and me?

Mum: No!

Me: That is why I don't come home. You all care about perfect little Liane. Well she's not perfect and neither is James.

Mum: Are you going to tell me what happened?

Me: Not over the phone. What I need to say is face-to-face.

Mum: What day are you flying in?

Me: I'll be in New York on the 8th.

Mum: Good, I'll see you than.

I put the phone on the table and turn the radio on. 'See you again' plays on the radio and I sing along to the song.

Dominic walks through the door. "What are you doing?"

I smile at him. "Baking and singing. Do you want to help."

"What are you baking?"

"Choc chip cookies."

"Yummy!" He helps me pull out dishes we need.

The chorus comes back on and this time Nico sings with me.

I laugh. "You sing off pitch."

He pushes me. "You do too. I love that song."

"Me too. Did you watch the MTV Movie Awards?"

"Yeah, Vin Diesel sang that song for Paul Walker. That was my fav part of the show."

"I have to agree. What did you think of the host that day?"

"Umm, I still have no clue who she is, Nico."

The song comes to close. Nico and I have the cookies in the oven.

"Have you heard from your date for the wedding yet?"

I shake my head. "Nah, still waiting for the phone call."

My phone vibrates on the bench.

Nico screams. "Answer it."

I smile at him and leave the room.

Me: Hello, this is Valentina.

Guy: I'm Austin from Hubby for Hire. I'll be your date for the wedding.

Me: Its great to hear from you.

Guy: What time do I need to pick you up on Wednesday the 8th July?

Me: I'm not sure. I still need to buy the tickets.

Guy: Once you buy the tickets call me on this number.

He hangs up on me.

Bastard.

I walk back to the kitchen.

Nico looks at me. "Is everything alright?"

I shake my head. "No, the guy was a jerk. He doesn't want to talk to me until he has all the details like what time to pick me up and everything. I haven't had time to jump on my computer to buy the tickets."

He pulls me into his arms. "Let's order some pizza and open a bottle of wine. That'll help you unwind from the busy day you had."

I smile. "Okay, thanks for being a generous friend, Nico. How about we go shopping tomorrow?"

He jumps off the lounge. "Yes! I love shopping." He yells.

I walk to my bedroom and start up my laptop. I buy the plane tickets and print them out.

I'll call the jerk tomorrow.

"Pizza will be half an hour."

The timer for the cookies goes off and I take them out and leave them on the cooling rack.

The phone buzzes. "Come up." Nico says.

A couple minutes later... There's a knock at the door. Nico runs to the door. He gives the money to kid. "Keep the change." He kicks the door shut with his foot and runs to the dining table. "I'm starving."

I roll my eyes. "You're always hungry, Nico." I take a slice of pizza and I pick off the mushrooms.

Nico looks at them. "Are you going to eat them?"

I shake my head.

He takes them from my plate and sticks them on his pizza.
