𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞 - comfort
{1495 words}

Simon was standing outside of your house, absolutely fuming. You had the nerve to force yourself into his life, become his friend, and then just one day you stop showing up for work?

You haven't even come to base for a whole week. A week. You left Simon alone for a week to be with all these other imbeciles, and Simon at this point only went so he could see your smile. Of course it dampened his mood when he didn't see your face for a. Whole. Week.

As he stood in front of your door, he felt himself flush a little bit at the realization of how silly he was being, but he never backed down, not when he put his mind to it, so he stayed in his spot.

After a good 3 minutes, he heard the door unlock, and his gaze automatically softened when he saw you peak through the crack of the door. Simon pushed the door open further, and it revealed you. You were as beautiful as ever.. but there was definitely something wrong. You were in your pajamas, your hair was messy and you looked tired.

"(your name).." Simon's raspy voice was a tad softer, if you paid enough attention. Simon realized this and he shook his head. "Where in the bloody hell have you been huh?! 'Done thought you died or something.." Simon growled.

"Oh.. I.. uh.." you stammered, a bit surprised to even see Simon here, at your house, seeing you like this. You try your best to hide your blushing.

Simon raised an eyebrow(even though you wouldn't see it because of his mask), intently awaiting for your response.

"Well I.. I was sick." You lied, but you hope that he might believe you since you did look a bit sick. Simon grumbled as he shifted his stance, you watched him curiously as he slipped off his glove. You couldn't even react when he reached out and firmly pressed his palm against your forehead.

Simon was checking your temperature. "You feel fine, unless you have a cold." He pulled his hand back, but he leaned in close to your face with a suspicious stare. "But you don't sound like you have a cold. Now. Tell me the truth." He demanded.

You sighed, you should have known that Simon is too observant, even for his own good. "Look, why do you even care?" You finally said, a bit in a self deprecating tone. Simon raised an eyebrow, his head shooting up. "Because you've been avoiding me- the whole base." He quickly corrected himself, before he realized he might get an answer if he is more personal. "So, what's the reason for avoiding me huh? Have I done something wrong? Hurt you in some way.. or have I finally scared you off?"

"What- no no.." you sighed softly, and I was surprised Ghost was being so open to me about his concerns. "Okay fine, look, I'm sorry I just.. I needed some days to myself. I've been going through my own stuff and I'm.. I'm sorry."

Simon's expression immediately softened slightly as he took a step towards you. The way you'd been isolating yourself.. it didn't make sense to him. He was now standing in your house, pushing you inside as he shut the door behind him. "What's been troubling you?" He finally asked. "I'm here.. to listen." Simon was surprised at his own gentleness, and he couldn't quite place his finger on why he was acting like this.

You chuckled nervously, surprised at his words. "Yeah yeah.."

"I mean it." Simon said quickly. He knew his personality was completely different right now, but he wanted you to know he wasn't joking around, he was genuinely concerned about you. Simon was never the one to beat around the bush. He had a very caring side, but he didn't like to show it unless it was needed. He waited patiently.
