Andrew stared at the water, looking back at his annoyed reflection.  It was dark out, and he could hear strange noises coming from the forest behind him.  The lake was calm, as it usually was.  His amber eyes almost seemed to glow in the darkness as he gazed into the black water.  He took a slow breath, trying to suppress his irritation.  His fingernails dug into the dirt as he clung onto the ground so that he didn't fall into the lake.  Suddenly, he saw a small wave overlap the rock and splash his leg.  He blinked, then grimaced.  "Crystal, I know you're there."  He didn't want to interact with her, but he continued to stare at his reflection.

Until he saw hers.

Crystal's own reflection was visible from the surface, and it was so surreal Andrew found himself staring at her in shock.  Then, she quickly rose out of the water and forcefully yanked him into the lake along with her.  He yelled out and flailed around in confusion, even more annoyed that she was trying to get his attention so bad.  His eyes quickly adjusted to the dark environment.  He let himself float slowly to the bottom as he glanced in Crystal's direction.  No one.  But that didn't mean she wasn't there.  He immediately turned around, crossing his arms.  "I'm not talking to you."  A few bubbles formed as he breathed underwater.  There was silence.  Silence until Andrew was whisked into an aquifer.  Why the hell was an aquifer there-?  I don't know.

Anyways, Andrew screamed as he was rocketed out of the water and fell face first on the rocky ground.  He coughed, feeling lightheaded.  Confused, he lifted his head and saw that he was in an extremely large cave.  Weird.  He stood up slowly, shaking the water from his clothes.  He turned his head as a huge wave sprung up from the water, forming Crystal, his sister.  Her clothes were completely dry in a split second as she absorbed the water into her skin.  She quickly turned to him, scoffing.  "Why don't you just dry yourself?  Idiot."  He swallowed and smiled nervously.  "And how do I do that without burning my clothes-?"  She flung her hair back and frowned.  He stared back, feeling self-conscious and at the same time extremely annoyed.  "Okay, why am I here?"  He scanned their surroundings again, not seeing anything special.  There was silence for a moment.  Crystal glanced at him.  "Well, since you don't know how to do anything, I thought we could like-"  She stopped and looked at the ground for a second.  "-uh, practice.  Here."  He looked at her, feeling amused.  "Is this your apology for pissing me off?"  She quickly looked away and said nothing.

Andrew smiled to himself and then looked around again.  Everything was stone, which was good.  He couldn't accidentally kill or burn anything here.  He extended his hand, feeling a bit uneasy.  He could feel his sister's piercing gaze on him.  He lifted his finger as a flame suddenly appeared, lighting up the darkness a bit.  It was small, and- "Pathetic."  Andrew turned to Crystal as she stared at his hand with repulsion.  "Is that all you can do?"  He gritted his teeth in anger.  "I'm just getting started, okay?!"  He flicked his hand back, causing a stream of fire to shoot from his hand and hit the cave wall.  It shot out for a solid 3 seconds until evaporating.  Andrew dropped his hand, sweat dripping down his forehead from the heat.  His body was already dry from that.  He turned to Crystal, a grin spreading across his face.  "Hm, what was that?  Pathetic?"  He stared at her, waiting for her reaction.  She had an expressionless look on her face.  "You don't know how to control it.  That just happened because you were mad at me."

He blinked at her.  She blinked back.  They stared at each other for what seemed an eternity before Andrew turned his back to her.  "Just, leave me alone and I'll... get better," he muttered, feeling embarrassed because she was right.  Their powers could be triggered easily due to strong emotions.  Crystal laughed at him.  "Ehh, I don't expect that much from you.  Fire is very hard to control compared to water... they're literally polar opposites."  He bit his lip.  "How do you know that-?"  "Why do you think forest fires start, dumbass?"  She stared at him in annoyance.  "Whatever, if you wanna practice by yourself- be my guest!"  She turned around and walked back to the water.  Andrew was silent before realizing something.  "Crystal, stop.  Wait."  She paused.  "What could you possibly want from me, Andrew?"  She had a harsh tone in her voice.  He took a breath.  "Crystal, do you think we could ever introduce ourselves to the humans-?"  There was silence.

Crystal looked away and then back at him.  "Stupid question.  We don't have an origin story, besides the true one, and if they heard THAT they would point pitchforks in our faces and call us monsters.  We're not human, Andrew.  We just look human because we mimic, remember?  We mimicked their likeness.  That doesn't make us human.  We're still space entities, you realize that?  We're aliens.  Out in space, we're nothing but an invisible organism.  Forget trying to talk to humans.  We wouldn't be able to relate to them anyways."  Andrew heaved a shaky breath.  He hated when she said emotionless things like that.  It just reminded him of how she didn't care about anything.  "I just wanted to be polite, I mean, they're probably wondering who's stalking them from the shadows," he replied.  "It's not fair to them."  "Shut up about being 'fair.'  Fairness is fine, but it has to be logical.  And this isn't logical."  She flipped him off as she dove into the water, leaving him alone with his thoughts.
