I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "Does it bother you that much?"

She shook her head, her tone growing stern. "No, it doesn't, but my brother won't appreciate your flirty behavior towards me."

I shrugged dismissively. "Your brother? Who cares about him? I'm more interested in the mischief we can stir up together."

"Well, lucky for me, I have stronger principles than the temptation of mischiefs. Excuse me, Cameron, I'll be returning to my friends now." She retorted gracefully.

She turned around and walked away, leaving me with a tinge of curiosity and a slight sting of rejection. I watched her disappear into the crowd, my mind consumed by a desire to unravel the layers behind her guarded personality.

After finishing the last drop of my drink, I bid farewell to the party. The pulsating music and laughter still echoed in the distance as I stepped outside into the refreshing night air. Taking a moment to clear my thoughts, I hopped into my car and drove back home. However, a lingering tension remained in my mind, consumed by thoughts of Elle Davis. Her enchanting smile and the enigma that surrounded her consumed my every thought. As I drove, the persistent curiosity she had sparked within me refused to fade away. I felt an irresistible pull towards her, a desire to unravel the secrets hidden within her heart and mind. Finally arriving home, I parked my car and stepped out, still consumed by thoughts of Elle. Making my way into the apartment, I quickly discarded my clothes and collapsed onto my bed, determined to silence my racing mind once and for all.

"Cam! Move your lazy ass and come out, because, I'll be late for work." My mom's voice echoed through the house, "You have two minutes."

"Oh god mom! You can't rush perfection."

"Well, you'll be perfectly late for your classes too!" She yelled even louder.

"I'm coming!"

We quickly exited the kitchen and hopped into the car. I threw my practice bag in the back seat and slipped into the passenger seat, while my mother positioned herself behind the wheel.

"When is dad coming back?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"Tomorrow." She replied, her eyes focused on the road ahead.

"So that's why you are so tensed."

"I'm not tensed."

"Sure, you're not. Mom, I'm only fifteen-year-old, but I'm pretty smart." I said, "after you, of course." My mom rolled her eyes. "And I know that you and dad are not on the best terms right now, I just don't want to see you mad or upset."

"I know baby, but I'm alright. Trust me."

"If you want, we can do something fun after work. After practice we can go out. Movies?"

"That sounds lovely." She agreed, her lips curling into a smile.

"Great, it's a date, mom, so don't be boring and lame." I playfully warned.

"You need to really work on your romantic side, Cam." She teased back.

"Yeah, yeah, maybe someday." I replied.

"I love you, Cam!"

"I love you too, mom." Startled awake from my deep sleep, the jolt of reality snapped me back and I found myself uttering those same words, once again. Life isn't an easy journey. Sometimes we need to face many obstacles to finally find peace. To find real love. Because not every story's beginning and ending are happy.

11:08 a.m., I woke up right on time. I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and decided to kickstart my day by preparing a delicious breakfast for myself. As I made my way to the kitchen, a wave of nostalgia washed over me. Memories of my mom flooded my mind, bringing a mix of emotions and a bittersweet smile to my face. I've always been a mama's boy.
