"thanks, maverick," he whispered, leaning up for another kiss only to be met with maeve's palm unflatteringly against his face.
"that kiss was a birthday present. don't come near me again until you brush your teeth."
ignoring her, xolo nestled his face into the crook of her neck, kissing the spot gently. rolling her eyes, maeve let him make himself comfortable, her fingers tangling in his curls.
"i don't know about you, maevey," he said, his voice muffled. "but i'm feeling twenty two."
"as much as i appreciate the taylor swift reference, i am in fact not feeling twenty two, because i'm only twenty, making you a creep."
groaning with a soft laugh, xolo rolled over to face his girlfriend with raised eyebrows.
"there is a month and a half before you turn twenty one, shut the fuck up."
"alrighty then, no breakfast in bed for you," maeve said nonchalantly.
"as if," xolo scoffed. "you wouldn't risk me getting crumbs in the sheets."
"okay then, i'm not making you pancakes."
"you weren't going to anyway. i heard you ask alex to last night."
climbing out of bed dramatically, maeve picked up a shirt from the back of her desk chair— the one xolo was wearing yesterday— and disappeared out the room without anything more than a middle finger.
laughing to himself, xolo wiped sleep out of his eyes. he checked his phone briefly for texts, but decided pretty quickly that it could wait. he had his whole birthday to spend with everyone else. this morning was about maeve.
