Attorney's Badge: No one would believe I was a defense attorney if I didn't carry this.

Profiles

Maya Fey (Age: 17): Mia's little sister. Currently training to become a spirit medium.

May 3, 12:00PM - Wright & Co. Law Offices

PHOENIX: (It's been a pretty slow year so far.)

PHOENIX: (We're six months in and we've hardly had any clients. I wish we could get more publicity somehow.)

PHOENIX: (I've considered making an ad, but I'm not even sure how to go about doing that. It's not really within my expertise.)

PHOENIX: (Oh well, we'll just have to keep waiting for new clients. I'm sure more will come around eventually.)

*CRASH*

PHOENIX: (What the...)

A loud noise came from the doorway, startling me.

MAYA: Nick!

PHOENIX: (That explains it.)

Maya Fey, my assistant, is always too excited for her own good.

It seemed that Maya rushed into the office so fast that she knocked over a stack of boxes and paperwork.

PHOENIX: Maya! Look at all the stuff you knocked over!

MAYA: Never mind that, Nick.

MAYA: Something crazy just happened! Have you seen the news?

PHOENIX: What? No. I've been doing paperwork all morning.

MAYA: Cyra Drake got arrested!

PHOENIX: I'm sorry... who?

MAYA: Cyra Drake. You know, the star of The Cyra Show? Singer, actor, world-famous celebrity?

MAYA: I grew up watching her TV show. I'm such a big fan!

PHOENIX: The Cyra Show... Oh, I remember that show.

PHOENIX: (It was on TV a lot when I was growing up. I saw a few episodes, but it wasn't really my thing.)

PHOENIX: (It starred Cyra Drake. She's considered a bit washed-up now, but she used to be one of the most famous actors in the world. I haven't heard anything about her in years, though...)

PHOENIX: (Cyra was also a child when the show was airing. I think we're around the same age.)

PHOENIX: (I don't pay much attention to celebrities but...)

PHOENIX: (Cyra grew up to be a pretty popular singer. She became an idol for young people around the world.)

PHOENIX: (But she also became a controversial figure, having public outbursts and being involved in scandals. I'm not sure of the details, but I know it was pretty bad.)

PHOENIX: (Regardless, though, Cyra still has a lot of loyal fans.)

PHOENIX: (The scandals may have dimmed her spotlight, but she's always retained some form of popularity. That must count for something.)

MAYA: We have to help her, Nick!

PHOENIX: Help her? How?

MAYA: By defending her in court. We're lawyers, that's what we do.

PHOENIX: I'm sure she already has some expensive lawyer working on her case.

MAYA: That's the thing, Nick. No one will take the case.

PHOENIX: What? Why?

MAYA: I'm not sure. It might have something to do with the fact that she turned herself in.

MAYA: And the victim... She wasn't getting along with him.

PHOENIX: Yeah, that sounds like a tough case to defend.

PHOENIX: Did they say who the victim was?

MAYA: His name was Phoenix Cross. Apparently, he and Cyra went way back. About ten years, to be exact.

PHOENIX: ...His name was Phoenix?

MAYA: I know. It's weird, right?

PHOENIX: (I've never investigated a case where the victim had the same first name as me before...)

MAYA: Maybe it's a sign from the universe. We were meant to take this case.

PHOENIX: I don't know about that.

MAYA: Please, Nick!

MAYA: We could at least go talk to her.

PHOENIX: *sigh* I guess we can.

PHOENIX: I do feel kind of bad that no one is taking her case.

MAYA: Exactly!

MAYA: Now, let's get down to the detention center.

PHOENIX: Okay. Let me grab my things.
