Kel's knees buckled and then he sobbed, dropping his gun as he fell to the ground. Sunny and the others ran to comfort him, trying to keep their eyes away from the dead infected boy in front of them. 

Kel sobbed, grabbing his arms as the others hugged him. Sunny closed his eye and nuzzled his lover's forehead, Aubrey tried not to break down, Basil was already breaking down, and Mari stood silently behind them, staring at Hero's corpse. Kel finally raised his head to look at his brother, as memories decided to flood back, adding salt to the wound.

---(flashback)---

Kel got home from school, taking a deep breath as he spotted his brother at his desk. He smiled and walked up behind him.

"Hero! Whatcha studying for?"

He smiled at the younger boy.

"Big kid quiz."

Kel crossed his arms and smiled.

"What's it about?"

"Mmm...nothing."

Kel laughed and tilted his head. Hero smiled.

"Fine. Integers."

"Inte-what??"

"Exactly."

Kel laughed. That night, the brothers stayed up and watched a bunch of movies, Kel falling asleep halfway through. Hero noticed his brother and chuckled, shutting off the tv. He rubbed Kel's shoulder and smiled.

"Kel. One day, I'm gonna finish off middle school and high school. So when I leave, don't cry."

Hero was talking about inevitable college...not death.

Kel sniffled and then looked at his brother's corpse again. Then, he turned to Sunny and hugged him, the others hugging his back. They eventually stood, continuing to walk after they said their goodbyes. Mari stood behind, staring at the corpse as her mouth watered.

"Mari!" Basil yelled.

She snapped out of it and smiled, skipping over. "Coming!"

They got to the city. Closeby City. Except it was much more quiet than usual. Sunny sighed.

"I hate this place."

Kel nodded and they walked through the silent city. Sunny then looked around and smiled a bit.

"At least there's not sirens and honking and yelling."

He looked up at Kel, who wore no emotion. It didn't even look like he was listening. Sunny squeezed his hand softly, snapping him out of it.

"Kel. C'mere."

He began pulling the taller boy to an abandoned apartment building, as Kel looked from Sunny to the other two, who conversed softly, knowing where the boys were. Kel and Sunny entered the apartment, Sunny pulling him to a room and managing to shut the door. After they checked the room, Sunny sat on the bed and Kel sat beside him, coughing a bit as dust flew off it into the room. Sunny then tilted his head.

"So, Kel, I know you're sad about...what happened."

Kel looked at him.

"Sad? SadI?  I'm fucking depressed! I had to shoot my own brother!"

"I-I know, I-"

"Just- I don't want to talk about it."

Kel looked down as Sunny looked at him, reaching up and gently cupping his cheek. Kel kept his eyes down as Sunny tilted his head toward him. Sunny lifted himself up to kiss Kel's cheek, before lowering and looking at the sad boy. Kel felt his eyes get sting-y and his throat began to burn. He swallowed and closed his eyes, tears breaking. Sunny clicked his tongue and then hugged Kel, who buried his face into Sunny's neck and sniffled.

"Sunny...I love you..."

Sunny rubbed his back.

"Love you too."

--Meanwhile--

"So, Kel, are you doing better no-?"

Basil and Aubrey turned around, not seeing anyone. They shared gazes before they ran back and yelled the boys' names.

--Meanwhile--

"Kel! Sunny!"

The boys kept hugging, Sunny kissing Kel's cheek and lips softly a few times. They stopped when they heard the faint voices and perked up, looking at each other before they ran out of the apartment. Kel reached the ground and yelled Aubrey's name until they met again, Aubrey hitting Kel's side.

"Don't run off like that!"

Sunny looked around.

"Guys...?"

"It was Sunny! He pulled me aside!"

"Guys!"

"Well you should have told us!"

"GUYS!"

They stopped and looked at Sunny, who put his hands out.

"Where's Mari!?"

They looked around, before they split up and began yelling Mari's name.

--Basil--

"M-Mari! Where are you!"

He walked until he found a bush with blood streaking from it. He raised an eyebrow and walked closer.

"...Mari?"

He heard eating. He gently peeked over, his eyes going wide. He saw Mari, hunched over, as she bit into and ripped open Hero's organs. She looked at him, half of her face rotting as her good eye shed tears. She reached out toward Basil, who stepped back and began running back to the others. He reached them and then panted heavily.

"Guys...! Mari's...infected!"

Sunny's eye went wide as Kel jumped and Aubrey gasped. Aubrey exclaimed, "ANOTHER ONE!? HOW!?"

"I...I don't know! But she was just...eating Hero's corpse. She didn't look fully infected either..."

The four ran to Mari, who growled at the scent of the four. She looked up at them, Kel covering his mouth as he hugged Sunny, who stared on in horror. These feelings felt too real. But this wasn't real. It couldn't be real. They watched as Mari grabbed Hero's gun with a shaky hand and held it up to her chin, before sending out a ear-shattering BANG.

She fell limp.

Right on top of Hero.

Sunny stared on more, as Kel hugged him. Aubrey and Basil took shaky breaths, not helping to think Who is next? And thought they hadn't realized it, Hero was the leader, being the eldest and having the most smarts.

They then walked in silence, Kel and Sunny holding hands tightly as Aubrey and Basil walked in front of them. Sunny felt something...flash. He went down for a second, his knees buckling. Kel turned to him as he pulled him up.

"Hey, you okay?"

Which alerted the others to turn around. Sunny nodded.

"Yeah, I...I'm fine...I think...I just need rest..."

Kel nodded and looked to Aubrey and Basil. To resist any further falls, Kel picked Sunny up bridal-style. Though the flustered Sunny told him to put him down, Kel kept shaking his head and walked silently. Sunny eventually calmed down and even closed his eye. 

When he opened his eye, he was on a bus seat. He looked over and saw he was laying on top of Kel. Across from them, Basil and Aubrey lay, Aubrey one seat in front of the boy. Sunny looked at Kel, who mumble quietly in his sleep as the other lay atop him. Sunny felt himself get drowsy as he laid against him and muttered, 

"When we wake up...we'll save them...some...how..."

But when he awoke, he was not on top of Kel.
