"How is that.. "

Jiang Cheng stared at the pendant with a frown, just what the hell is happening? He already had a feeling that his involvement in all of this had a meaning however he did not want to acknowledge that and tried not to pay too much attention to it, because he knew that once he acknowledged this it would just open more can of worms and things that he did not want to deal with. But what can JIang Cheng do now when that pendant feels like it's burning his sight. If it were just him, he would not really mind it but when his family is now involved then it's a different story.

"Meng Yao gave it to me" Lan Xichen answered.

"Meng Yao? When?" Jiang Cheng turned to look at Lan Xichen.

"I met up with him this morning, I apologize for not informing you all. He said he wanted to talk, and I ought to get some information from him however he .. escaped"

Lan Wangji's brow rose slightly at that, they all knew that it would be impossible for Meng Yao to escape just like that, especially to Lan Xichen, so despite the silence they all knew that Lan Xichen must have let him go. Jiang Cheng is not pleased at this, the frown on his face is getting deeper but he decided not to run his mouth, but he gave Lan XIchen a look that they would talk later.

"He confirmed that the Wens are truly behind these schemes and their new target is Jiang Cheng, he gave me this saying we should investigate about this if we wanted to know more."

"He could have just told you about it, but that bastard wants us to play some puzzle games, tch" Jiang Cheng sighed and crossed his arms, he did not touch the pendant or glance at it any longer. The more he sees it the more troubled he feels.

However, Lan Qiren reached out and picked the pendant bringing it closer to him to inspect "This crest is a little familiar, I believe I've seen it before"

"Really?" Lan Xichen asked.

Lan Qiren nodded before standing, he walked further into the shelves and Jiang Cheng remained on his seat while observing the older Lan disappearing into another room "Where did he go?"

"Archives" Lan Wangji answered.

Jiang Cheng nodded and there was an awkward silence that hung between the three of them, Lan Wangji who was silently sipping his tea looked at the two of them and sighed before placing his cup down and stood up "I will help Shufu"

Once Lan Wangji left there was still silence between Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen, the former picked up his cup and took a sip from his tea until Lan Xichen decided to break the silence.

"A-Cheng are you mad?"

"No."

"You are" Lan Xichen shifted on his seat and looked at him.

"I am not– okay maybe a little, it's just that you did not tell me, and you probably haven't told anyone too. What if that was a trap? It could be dangerous, you know" Jiang Cheng sighed and placed the cup down to look at Lan Xichen.

"Don't worry nothing bad happened" Lan Xichen murmured before glancing at the direction where his uncle and brother disappeared before looking back at Jiang Cheng "I am more worried about you, it is clear now that they are after you, will you be, okay?"

Jiang Cheng grunted at that and glanced at the pendant once again, "I'm not really scared fighting those people, I am more .. anxious of finding out something about myself here" he murmured the latter part of his response, he was not afraid to fight, he was good at that, at least there is a goal he can pursue, beating some bad guys is much easier than dealing with something that's unknown. He was more worried to find out what his connection is in this world. What if it was something bad, something that could either answer their question or lead more complications to his life. Just a month ago he was only a regular man who was grieving and trying to survive, provide and work for his family, just like any other person and yet now he was thrown into this fantasy world without a warning and causing more headaches and troubles into his normal life.
