A setback

Fiske's POV:

*This chapter starts when Fiske's team is getting weapons to arm themselves for the mission.

"Make sure you get as many weapons as you can carry," I said. "That's the rule, if you could carry it you're bringing it with you."

My group of about fifty churros were taking the cereal guns and the knives of the walls in our armory which was just a cardboard box with weapons poked through the holes. Although we did have several smoke grenades.

After several minutes of grabbing the weapons we needed, we hopped into our ATVs and drove away to the mall. Once we were at the mall we unloaded all the gear that we needed and we scaled the side of the roof until we were at the top.

"OK, we're going to split up into five groups of ten. Your job is only to locate a churro store or vendor." I paused to make sure everyone had my attention. "Once you identify the churro vendor or store you will press the green button on your walkie talkie and then we will immediately know where the churro vendor is."

"What if there's an emergency?" A churro asked. "How do we communicate that."

"All you have to do is press and hold the button on the side of the walkie talkie and everything that you say we will be able to hear. Any more questions?" I asked.

No one had any questions so we split up into groups of ten before taking our climbing equipment and climbing down the wall and into the mall below.

Even though we were really small and it was doubtful anyone would see us, we still had to be careful. Someone could just as easily step on us as they could breathe. We were so tiny that it was hard not to step on us.

Because of this exact reason, we made sure to stay along the sides of the mall or even along ledges and platforms that jutted out from the wall. We hoped that the other groups were smart enough to do the same thing. After twenty minutes none of us had found a churro vendor so I went into a more efficient way of looking, through my binoculars. We were in the food court now and it was the widest area in the mall and a churro vendor was most likely going to be nearby because there are a lot of restaurants here.

Once I adjusted the binoculars to fit me I put them up to my eyes and searched around, looking at the title of each restaurant and moving on until finally, I found it. It was directly across from us and the churro store was packed. There was a line that went as far as I could see and more people were coming as I spoke.

"Hawthorne," I said as the churro came walking over. "Here's the plan."

I told Hawthorne the plan and we were ready to go rescue the churros but there was just one thing I needed to do.

I grabbed my walkie-talkie and pressed the green button on it. After that, I signaled to Hawthorne to start the plan. He pulled his backpack off his back and he started taking out multiple tools that I would've had trouble putting together. Then he assembled them and he talked into it.

"Hello," He said. "Don't be afraid, we are fellow churros ourselves and we are trying to help you. If you will please go as close to the cabinet door as possible that will be great. If you are already packaged and ready to go try to slip out before it's too late. Goodbye, and hopefully we'll see you soon."

"Good job," I said. "I didn't think that device would work."

"We'll see," Hawthorne said skeptically.

Me and Hawthorne both didn't know if the device would work 100% the way it was supposed to but we just had to hope that the churros heard us and listened to Hawthorne's instructions. The way the machine was supposed to work was like a dog whistle except for churros. Whatever we say will be relayed through the machine...Except this machine was one of a kind and we didn't know if it would work like we said earlier.

We were ready to go when another group of ten showed up.

"What took you so long?" One of the people in my group asked.

"There was a setback," The churro in charge of that group said. "Several kids were running and they stepped on almost all the churros in the other group."

I doubled over, I felt like I got punched in the gut. I was devasted, and finally, I managed to speak.

"How many did we lose?" I asked.

"All the other groups lost eight and our group lost two, did you lose any men?"

I shook my head slowly before putting my head in my hands and crying.

"This is even more of a reason why we need to rescue the other hundreds of churros. I'm not saying that they could replace the ones we lost but we need as many men as possible to build an army."

Slowly everyone agreed the him and then in minutes we were hiding inside the churro restaurant. Getting ready to make another move.

We were waiting for the right time for the churro vendor to leave, it felt like we'd been standing there for hours when the churro vendor suddenly started walking away.

"NOW!" I screamed, not caring if any humans heard or saw us, I only cared about the mission. I was not going to fail again.

At the sound of my scream, we all jumped out of our hiding spots and charged the bags and cabinets where we assumed the churros were. Several kids saw us and pointed, some of them even told their mom but their mom was not buying any of it.

Me and a team of what seemed fifteen people grabbed the cabinets and yanked them open, hundreds of churros hopped out happily. We repeated this process several times until we had rescued all of the churros.

"Finally," I said to myself. "We had an army again."
