Chapter 21: Love Hurt

"Are you guys heading out now?" Chrissy asked but she was looking at me.

"Yes." I replied nonchalantly, trying to avoid Lauren's gaze.

I groaned inwardly. It was so hard to ignore her.

Lauren's POV

Zandros introduced us to her and I was hurt when he confirmed that we are done. He just called me a plain best friend of his sister. I felt like I was stab a million times. I could feel the tears pricking under my eyelid. I blink it away and held it back. I can't cry in front of him. Not ever!

I gave him a poker face. I forced a smile as we did a handshake with Ayumi. She's very beautiful.

I was looking at him, but he didn't meet my eyes. He was avoiding my gaze and it hurt the more.

"Fuck you Zandros!" I cussed inwardly.

My mind was in a blur and too fixed to control my emotions that I didn't hear what they are talking with Chrissy. I just felt Chrissy's hand tugging mine, leading me out of his office, like a robot.

When we got out, I was shaking. Chrissy was holding me closely.

"You're far more beautiful than her.!" she comforted but it didn't help at all.

"She is!" I tried to sound casual but I failed, instead I croaked. Naeah was looking at us curiously.

"She didn't even reach your level missy!" she spat playfully. I heaved a heavy sighed and tried to ignore the pain that's already enveloped me. I wanted to scream and just cry my heart out, but definitely not in front of anyone. At least save my dignity and pride.

"Let's go!" I exclaimed, forcing a smile as I pulled myself away from Chrissy and took my coat from the hook in the corner.

"Hold on." Naeah said as she turned her back and face the fax machine running.

"You sure, you alright?" Chrissy asked me looking curious. I gave her a smile that didn't reach my eyes for reassurance that I'm hoping she's buying it.

"Ok. I'm glad you're not weak." she smiled and then she looked at Naeah.

"How long that it tak-" Chrissy didn't finish her sentences when Zandros office door opened with the two looking happily walking out the door together and Zandros shut the door behind him and hold her waist as they walk.

"I'll see you later guys." he said not looking at me. I held my head high not showing any emotion. I can pretend, why not. "Naeah, you're off this afternoon!" he added and finally, he look at me, with his face giving nothing away. I met his eyes with my straight face. But my heart was beating loudly and I hope he didn't hear it. I was so hurt to see how intimate they are.

I looked away when I can't take it anymore. Holding the tears back, while cursing him inwardly.

"I'll see you later brother!" Chrissy replied and the two left, as they chatted comfortably.

I grip my purse strap tightly, while trying to relax myself.

"Let's go!" Naeah said happily after turning off the computer.

Soon, all three of us were walking to the elevator. The door slides open and we all stepped in happily. Well, I was trying to act happy.

"So, tell me Naeah, how did you two end up together?" I teased playfully. Chrissy nudge her elbow and grinned mischievously. Naeah blushed profusely, making us and Chrissy laughed.

"I don't know. He just asked me a date one day and I said yeah, to try to loosen a bit. And that's were it all started. He was very gentleman and I just fell in love one day." she mused and her eyes twinkled with true happiness.
