She smirked before clicking straight back into work mode.

"Shouldn't you be trying to date this anomaly anyway Connor, not gossiping about things you don't understand."

"Right!" Connor said, jumping to his feet as he shot a final apologetic glance in Katherina's direction.

He grabbed a black box before laying it on the floor near the anomaly.

"Right." He repeated as he opened the box infront of him.

Suddenly, a loose metal spanner came flying out of the box and headed straight for the anomaly, which stood in the middle of the sun cage. The spanner hit the statue, before bouncing off and into the anomaly. A large piece of one of the people in the statue's breast came flying off and hit the ground near Connor.

Dr. Page looked over and sent Connor a murderous glare as he picked up the piece. He looked around in shock before noticing Sarah's glare.

"I didn't so it." He said immediately, trying to adopt an innocent tone.

"So it just fell off did it?" She asked incredulously.

"Yep." He nodded slowly.

Sarah took an intentional step froward before speaking.

"The sun cage... Is cursed!" She said dramatically.

Connor rose, the piece still in his hand.

"Anyone who touches it," she continued. "Is doomed for life."

Connor's hand quickly released the piece like a hot potato, his eyes taking on a panicked sheen.

"Really?" He squeaked.

"Marion was the last person to touch it." Sarah said as she took a step back.

"The dead one?" Connor stuttered as he wiped his hand on his waistcoat.

The doctor just rolled her eyes in response and turned around.

"I should have told you that earlier right?" She said as she turned back on her heel. "Sorry about that, bad luck."

"Bad luck." I repeated from behind him in amusement.

"Or perhaps it's karma?" Katherina questioned as she came to lean against the wooden crate with me, her arm grazing mine.

She smirked and I grinned at the look, our amused eyes making contact. Our gaze held until the moment was broken by the sound of Connor knocking over an old vase.

We both looked at him to see him cringing with Sarah, again, sending him a murderous look.

~~ 10 minutes later ~~

The sound of Connor's phone ringing dragged us all over as he answered the call.

"Yo." Connor answered.

"Connor, speak, what have we got?" Cutters voice come over the line.

"Yeah I just took a reading from the anomaly," said Connor. "Whatever came through is at least 55 million years old."

"Yeah it's fast, it's strong, it switches from two legs to four, and it's obviously carnivorous; search the database and profile me some creatures."

The sound of a car alarm came over the phone before Cutter started to pick up his pace.

"I think we've got it!" He said.

I saw Katherina stand up quickly before she shouted: "tell them I'm on my way!" And grabbed her rifle.
