One day before the first match of the Nations League, Élisa noticed a peculiar new follower on her Instagram.

celinelovesl has started following you.

When she realized it was Celine, she got excited and quickly went to her profile, eager to see each of her photos, of course, after following her back.

Celine Leroy, alias celinelovesl, had around 60,000 followers. At first glance, one might say her life was easy, with photos of cafes, expensive clothes and bags, many travel pictures, and selfies. It seemed she was a small influencer in Paris, but for some reason, she had a lot of money, thanks to her last name. Élisa noticed the Leroy surname and instantly knew she came from one of the wealthiest families in France.

Ugh, she's so beautiful, Élisa thought. She couldn't stop looking at her photos and continued scrolling.

The defender could have kept looking at all her photos, but she remembered the words of her friend Karchaoui. As much as she wanted to spend a night with her, it wouldn't be possible since she was the girlfriend of her coach, and besides, it wasn't clear if she liked women or not. Although in her mind, the question lingered: Why did she follow you, don't you think?

The next day, the French team was ready for their first match of the Nations League, against Portugal.

In the locker room, De Almeida mentioned her new follower to her teammate Sakina, trying not to show her excitement.

"She started following me too," Karchaoui replied while tying her long brown hair into a ponytail.

Élisa was genuinely surprised. For some reason, she was so sure that it meant something, but apparently not. She put on a jokingly offended face to her friend and decided to leave that topic behind; after all, they had a game to win today.

The team lineup was prepared, and they entered the field together; the match was seconds away from starting.

The whistle blew, and it began.

Celine arrived five minutes after it started.

She quickly kissed Hervé and sat on the bench next to the substitute players.

"Did I miss much?" Celine asked, concerned.

"It just started," Hervé replied.

The match had already had some nerve-wracking moments that made the whole audience anxious. The coach didn't stop shouting, something that surprised Celine; she had never seen him so involved in his work.

The opposing team's forward was strongly threatening the French goal. After running with the ball from their goal, the opposing player was ready to shoot directly at the goal, and from where she was, it was very likely she would score. The bench started to fill with nervousness, and it was very contagious. Celine couldn't stop biting her nails as she watched this woman who wanted to score for Portugal, and no one was stopping her.

"De Almeida!" Hervé shouted loudly when he saw Élisa approaching the opponent.

In a spectacular slide, the defender managed to steal the ball and save the French goalkeeper from a goal. Then, she made a direct pass to Geyoro.

"Let's go!" Élisa shouted, and Sakina went to bump into her.

Celine was excited about the passion that the defender put into the game and stood up to get a better view. She could see up close how Élisa ran her hand through her hair, adjusting her bangs. She also couldn't help but see when she used her jersey to wipe the sweat from her face, exposing her flat abdomen.

In a matter of seconds, an opposing player deliberately fouled Élisa, and she quickly got up to face her.

"Do you have a problem with me?" she threatened the player as she approached her, inviting her to fight right there on the field. All the teammates approached to prevent a fight, and Sakina stood between them, although that didn't stop Élisa from continuing to yell at the opponent.

Celine was concerned about what had happened, but she couldn't help but think about that aggressive and dominant attitude that Élisa had shown. It certainly caught her attention, but she couldn't interpret it.

Intense situations continued to happen where shouts of excitement or anger erupted, and when they least expected it, Celine and Élisa locked eyes. It was only for a few seconds since the defender was focused on the game; she didn't know how to react and thought she had imagined it from staring at her Instagram photos so much. On the other hand, Celine realized that they locked eyes because she hasn't stopped looking at the defender throughout the whole game; she hasn't looked at any other player. Realizing this, she returned to her seat and sat down; she couldn't believe that all this time she had only been looking at her. Why?

Something similar had happened to her yesterday when she followed the defender on Instagram. She wondered why she followed only her, and instantly felt the urge to follow the other teammate, as if to not look suspicious.

Halftime arrived, and the players returned to the bench to refresh themselves.

Both were surprised to see each other up close and greeted each other. Élisa couldn't believe she was here; at first, she thought she had just hallucinated. Celine, for some strange reason, felt nervous, but managed to put it aside.

"It's a sin to come and watch us play without wearing the jersey," De Almeida said to Celine, while grabbing a water bottle.

Celine started laughing.

"Apparently, I don't have someone who can gift me one," she replied.

Élisa looked at the coach and realized he was on a call, not paying much attention to his girlfriend, as if he didn't care enough.

"I would swear you have like a thousand," De Almeida said, continuing the joke.

"Nope, I have zero," she replied while making a zero shape with her right hand, a gesture that seemed quite cute to the defender.

"I can give you one without any problem," she responded.

Celine smiled broadly.

"That would be great," she replied. "I would appreciate it a lot."

Halftime was only a few seconds away from ending; all the players started entering the field to get into position. De Almeida got rid of the water bottle and, before leaving, ended the conversation.

"I'll DM you on Instagram," she said, causing surprise in Celine. "After all, we're already mutuals."

"But you're going to give it to me signed, right?" Celine asked, the comment seemed to have a hint of flirt.

Élisa just winked her eye to Celine as a response and returned to the field.
