Sunbreeze lay contentedly in the warming rays of the bright sunlight that shone in yellow strips through the forest canopy onto her golden and cloud-coloured pelt. Greenleaf was in full-tilt, and Sunbreeze enjoyed the warmth and bountiful prey it brought, a pleasant contrast to the harsh cold and lean times of leafbare.
Drowsily, Sunbreeze watched as a dragonfly flew lazily in front of her face, taking off again, until she could no longer hear it's telltale buzz. Her eyelids drooped and she started to lightly doze...
Sunbreeze got up and yawned, stretching and letting the breeze ruffle her fur. She had started to get uncomfortably hot, and was quite relieved to leap off of the stone she had laid on-they were called the Sunningrocks for a reason- and feel the cool mossy forest floor and the shade of the trees cool her. She realized she did not know how long she'd slept and needed to go hunting before she returned to camp. She wasn't yet used to once again carrying out her former duties as a warrior, her kits having all recently become apprentices, and she needn't not be with them in the nursery anymore. Not that she didn't enjoy hunting and patrolling for her clan. She just needed to get back into the habit.
Spotting a plump brown rabbit, she crouched into the stalking position, lowering herself behind a patch of bright green ferns. Then, with the impeccable timing of an experienced hunter, she leaped up into the air, sailing over the top of the rabbit and landing over it with a thud. Before the rabbit had time to register what had happened, she had already delivered the killing bite. 'Yep, I've still got it,' she thought, smiling to herself. She buried the rabbit so that she could pick it up later, and continued her hunt, breathing in deeply the sweet scent of the flowers on the wind. It was a good time for them all; Prey was plentiful and there had been little tension between the clans.
Why did she feel so uneasy? She shrugged it off, continuing her hunt.
