After the death of Shamu Seaworld was losing visitors and money so they made a few calls told a "few" lies getting their hands on the infamous KILLER whale the world immediately grew to love Tilikum.
After the death of Keltie Byrne Sealand was set to shut down causing the 3 whales (Tilikum, Haida and Nootka) involved in her death to find new homes. Seaworld seen it as the perfect opportunity to replace the original Shamu, filing for an emergency permit to take Tilikum from his poor conditions.
Seaworld's original plans for Tilikum was strictly breeding and performing despite knowing his past at Sealand. In order to obtain Tilikum they promised Sealand they would not breed him or allow him to take place in any whale shows and that he would be in better living conditions. The orcas living conditions got worse, he fathered 21 calves and performed up until his third and final kill. All legal agreements made with Sealand were broken.
