On Cloud 9 With 12

Laylani straightened her hair as she prepared to go to the 2019 NBA draft party for all the new rookies.

Originally she wasn't going to go but her best friend, Brienna, is dating one of the grizzlies  players, Jaren, who wanted to meet his new teammate.

Laylani made it clear many times she feel like going, but of course Brienna didn't go down without a fight, which she clearly won.

It's not that Laylani didn't want to go, but she truly had a reason. She'd been 7 month's into a pregnancy that had nothing but obstacles, she was stressed and hurt deep inside.

No one knew that though, not like there were many people in her life that she expected to care anyway.

She wasn't an introvert but at the mentality she was currently at, she just wanted to be alone, far from any people and focus on herself and having a healthy pregnancy.

When she finished straightening her hair, she got a call from Brienna.

"Hi brie", putting the phone on speaker as she walked out the house. "Before you even say anything i'm walking out the house right now so don't even start."

"Alright Laylani", She said chuckling on the other end of the phone. "I was just checking on you, me and Jaren are on our way now so we'll probably meet you there since you live a lil bit closer to the address." 

"Well I'm in the car now so i'll see you there honey'", starting the car and driving off. "And make sure to tell Jaren don't be speeding wit' my best friend in the car."

She chuckles, "Alright girl we'll see ya there." 

And with that they ended the call.

It didn't take Laylani very long to arrive considering she hates driving slow or even the speed limit, it was just so boring to her.

A few moments later she arrived, pulling in just before Brie and Jaren did.

She decided to keep her purse in the car and just bring her phone and lip gloss. 

Before she even had the chance to get out her car, Brie knocks on her window.

She gives Brie a dirty look, "Don't just be knocking on peoples window like that girl, it's rude and I just cleaned my car too."

Brie chuckles, "You're such an angry pregnant woman, but come on lets go before all the food is gone!"

Laylani just smiles as she gets out the car, when they walk in she notices there's nothing but tall men, and maybe a few of their girlfriends. 

Jaren decided to go greet some of his friends while Brie and Laylani went to the bar, of course she wasn't going to drink since she was pregnant though.

She sat on the bar and Brie sat next to her. A few minutes later a bartender came up to them. 

"Hello ladies! Can I get you guys anything?" Laylani looked at Brie and she shook her head signaling she wasn't gonna get anything tonight, "I'll just get water, if that's fine." The bartender nodded and went to go grab the water.

A few seconds later she handed Laylani the water. She struggled opening the water bottle but didn't wanna use her mouth since it wasn't a bottle from her house, and she didn't know where it had been. 

"I gotchu," A tall man who looked as if he was in his early 20's insisted. Laylani just gave him the bottle. "Thank you."

He easily opened the bottle,"It ain' nothing," He said handing the bottle back to her. "You real beautiful though."

Laylani took a sip of her water, "Thanks" She said dryly. 

"What's ya' name?" He asked trying to be respectful as possible.
