Trust is a Funny Thing

I often find it hard to open up to others.

Whenever I let down my guard,

And try to show you my true colors,

You deal them out like in a game of cards.

When I tell you a secret of mine,

I expect you to not share it.

With all that has happened, I must be blind.

Yet, even when you told everyone

I didn't find myself to be surprised.

I figured that it would be better in the long-run.

But it ended in my sorrowful cries.

You said that you would not tell,

But look at where we are.

My emotions are not something for you to play with or sell.

You were just an ugly dream in a sky full of beautiful stars.

Maybe if you hadn't told the entire freshman class,

I could've thought that this was more than just a fling.

Yet, I have said it before, as clear as glass.

Trust is a funny thing.
