A Trial

To see the wind brush against your skin,
A new emotion in me starts to begin.
The eyes that stare at you are the same,
Yet the feelings it holds own another name.

The heart of mine calls for no one but you,
You stayed the same it was me who was new.
Is it current, or was I in denial?
It feels like our first meeting was nothing but a trial.

A test to see if I were to break,
Open my mouth and make an awful mistake.
Because what else is worse than deception?
To believe what I feel is nothing but a misconception.

For I am not the only one who sees your beauty,
Who loves you wholly and sees you truly.
I cry when I remember I was the first to see your art,
The first to love, but the first to depart.

Because it was a rule that needs no word,
But the feelings remained it stayed unstirred.
To watch you have feelings for another, it made me weak,
It feels like I could not smile, could not speak.

For it was only a facade that I am happy you have someone,
A mask that is to break, a lie soon to be undone.
Since what I feel for you is too big to hide,
Too pure to deny, too significant to set aside.
