Haya finally moved out of the living room area towards the backyard.

"Haan Umeed, pareshan nahi ho. Farjaad bhai theek hein."

"Phir ye ye kamzori, ye behoshi. Haya mujhe sach sach batao, mera dil band ho raha hai."

"Umeed bas thora un ka stomach upset ho gaya hai, aur koi issue nahi hai. Kamzori ho gayi hai thori."

Umeed wasn't listening, she was in the middle of picking up her bag and car keys.

"Stomach upset? Kya khilaya hai tum logon ne un ko?"

"Kal naashtay mein ammi ne paratha channay -"

"Parahta channay?! Haya wo ye sab nahi khatay! Aur naashtay mein to bilkul bhi nahi. Mujh se pooch liya hota yaar!"

She was rushing down the stairs when Mimi called her from behind.

"Umeed, kahan ja rahi ho itni jaldi mein?"

"Ghar ja rahi hoon zara."

"Sab khariyat hai? Aisay achanak?"

"Haan bas aik zarori kaam hai, mama ko bata dena."

She drove as fast as she could, continuously muttering prayers under her breath. She covered the forty minute distance in less than thirty owing to her over-speeding and violation of rules. She would get a nice scolding from Farjaad later, but she didn't care.

Once Sameer opened the gate, she began lashing out on him, and continued to do so till she got to the lounge where everyone was seated.

"Umeed beta tum?"

"Farjaad kahan hein?"

"Beta wo -"

"Aap logon ne kya kya khila diya hai unhein? Kabhi dekha hai un ko itna heavy khana khaatay?  Do din ke liye aaye thay, us mein bhi bemaar kar diya!"

"Bemaar to khair pehle hi din kar diya tha...."

Chachu murmured earning him a light smack from Zeenat.

"Hein kahan wo?"

"Umeed Farjaad bhai upar Sameer ke kamray mein so rahay hein."

She began climbing the stairs instantly.

"Umeed beta so raha hai wo, abhi hi neend aayi hai."

"Mujhe bhi pata hai bemaaron ka khyaal kesay rakhtay hein. Dekhnay ja rahi hoon bas."

She rushed up the stairs and reached Sameer's room, turning the door knob gently to not wake him up. He wasn't the lightest of sleepers, but she knew he woke up easily when he was sick or restless.

She tiptoed inside, her heart warming at the sight of him curled up, hugging a pillow. A smile made its way up to her face as she walked over to the bed, sitting beside him. She sat there looking at her husband, her eyes full of love, feeling like she hadn't seen him in ages. She had to resist the urge to now get on top of him and embrace him tightly, not wanting to disturb him. So she settled on brushing her fingers across his forehead, lightly pushing back some strands of hair.

Just the touch of his body under her fingers was enough to bring the warmth back in her life. She leaned down, dropping a kiss on his forehead, letting her lips linger on. Farjaad shifted in his sleep, making her pull back. He opened his eyes slightly.

"So jayein Farjaad."

He shook his head, thinking he was again imagining her. He had already called Sameer 'Umeed' both days when he woke him up. So he closed his eyes again and shook his head. Until her felt soft hands enveloping his. He could never mistake that touch. His eyes shot open to find Umeed rubbing soft circles on his hand.
