Strep Throat and Tonsils

I'm so sorry this took so long. I started writing this months ago, no exaggeration, and decided I am not doing anything else until it was done 🤣 Hope it was worth the wait 🤞

Ricky's POV
I heard her wince. Being the guy I was, I was instantly worried.

She was sitting in my living room, I was in the kitchen.

"You okay?" I called to her.

"I can't swallow without my throat hurting so, so bad." She admitted.

I walked in the room to see her turning sideways to lay across the couch.

I approached her, placing my hand on her neck, very gently. I frowned, moving my hand to her forehead, it was burning up.

"Oh, honey bug, you have a fever."

I lay my hand against her neck, gently, to feel her throat. It did not feel normal.

"Sweetie, let's take you to the doctor later."

"Okay," she sighed. "Just tell me when."

"Miss Porter, it looks like you have strep throat, and once you get over that, we will have to set up a time for you to get your tonsils removed as well."

"Okay." I saw the pain in her eyes. "Thank you, Doctor."

"Come on, Gi."

"You doing okay?" I ask her in the car, placing my hand over her thigh.

She doesn't look sad, just numb, like she's asleep with her eyes open. They're glazed over, almost teary.

She just shrugs. "I'm scared."

"Don't be scared. It's all gonna be okay. It's all to make you feel better."

When the day of the removal arrives, Gina doesn't seem to care, though she doesn't talk all day.

She gets in the car silently, allowing me to drive her to the hospital and walk her in without a word.

She finally speaks, saying, "Bye." As they cart her off to the room.

"Bye."

"Hi, Sweetie." I kneel beside her bed as k finally can see her.

She smiles, giggling silently, about to speak.

"Shhh, no words. It's okay. How you feeling?"

"Bleh."

"I know. Let's rest a while longer, and then we'll get you home." I smile, kissing her sweaty, now pale forehead. "I love you."

She smiles and nods. I know that she loves me too, but these next few days are going to be...rough.
