Okay what time is it now? 9am. Great, perfect time for a nice coffee and walk in the park. I grab my shoes, a pair of cute black pumps with charm that hung loosely around my ankle. Luckily, my mum continued speaking Korean to me and relying on me for the English in New Zealand so communication was never an issue. I was walking down some busy streets for about 10 minutes before a younger girl in school uniform stopped me and told me I looked pretty, after a quick exchange of compliments I asked her where I could find the best coffee nearby. Apparently there was a cute little corner coffee shop 4 blocks away. Normally 4 blocks wasn't too crazy but in these heels I could've killed the next person I saw.
After a couple more minutes I found the shop the girl had mentioned before and by god it was cute. It was literally built on the corner of a building and it was surrounded in greenery and plants, I couldn't help but gasp and pull my phone out to take a quick picture. Time to put their coffee to the test. Some may find it weird but I have a massive sweet tooth, even with coffee so my generic order is a iced caramel frappuccino unless a special iced coffee piques my interest. I just went for the generic and waited by the cute counter littered with smaller plants and post-it notes with customer reviews. I couldn't help but chuckle at some of the comments. Once my name was called out I grabbed the coffee and thanked the server.
I didn't even realise the view from the other side of the shop when I first got here. There was a massive park with a low railing covering the perimeter of the grassy field. This is the perfect spot for a photo shoot. I take a small portable tripod out from my bag and set up to take a few photos. One thing I'm thankful for in Korea is the attitude people have toward others taking photos. I got a few compliments and even got a little girl asking me if I was a princess. I bobbed down to her level and told her quietly not to tell anybody but she can also be a princess with me. With that we took a photo together and our outfits even matched in colour, she wore a pair of yellow dungarees with a little beret which was just adorable. I could tell how happy her and her parents were when she ran back to them, shouting about meeting a real princess. I gave the parents a small smile while I packed up the tripod to continue my walk slowly back to our apartment.
As I'm sipping my delicious coffee I spot a small flower shop, flourishing in all the spring flowers. That's when I saw my grandma favourites, tulips. There was a tall man walking by at the same time when I stopped him and asked him to take a photo of me from his height, he held the phone up a little and took a few photos as I crouched down to pose with the flowers. I quickly got up and thanked the stranger and as I started walking into the flower shop I heard someone say "See you later". I could've sworn it came from the man who took my photos but the voice was far too feminine to pass as a man's.
When I bought the flowers I noticed the time had skipped a couple hours and it was now almost 3pm, the notification on my phone just had a countdown named "Miss Lee's Lesson" that was due to go off in 4 hours. Gosh that was a long walk but it was nice to relax and explore my home town. Time to take these flowers to grandma before I head home to prepare for the class tonight. Once I got to the hospital room I saw my mum already sat by her side and talking quietly with her. I stopped at the door and quietly knocked as to not startle her.
"Ah hello, you've been gone a while. Are those for grandma? She'll love those" my mum sighed and smiled sweetly at the flowers I had in my hand. I nodded and placed them in the vase of water grandma had next to her bed from the previous flowers. While sitting and talking with my mum and grandma, an alarm went off on my phone reminding me to get home and get ready.
"Sorry I have to go get ready, I'll see you tomorrow grandma" I gave her hand a tight squeeze before smiling at my mum and taking my leave. I rushed back to the apartment. How was it already 5pm? Thankfully the hospital wasn't that far of a walk so it just took 10 minutes to get inside and start preparing mentally for the class ahead. I threw on a variation of what I normally wear for dance practice with Jam Republic before being reminded of the girls I missed so much back home. I shoot the group chat a quick message just asking how they're all getting along but seeing as I wasn't expecting a quick response I thought it was time to post those photos on Instagram. I opened the photos album. I smiled at the photo of the toddler girl and me smiling at the camera and how genuinely happy she looked made my heart melt. I swiped through a couple more photos and that's when I spotted it.
There were some really good photos of my looking down at the flowers but then it was filled by another person. A set of eyes covered by a face mask and a cap. The first was just a plain selfie, the second was one with a little finger pose and the third was that of a wink. I know Korean men are gorgeous but his eyes seemed so dreamy and soft. They were a soft blue colour but I think they're contacts as I can see the true dark brown colour behind them. While I was entranced by the strangers eyes, my last alarm sounded to show me that it was time to leave and head to the studio. Shit, okay let me grab my keys and shoes and run out of here.
