Aella flicked at the ring on her finger, staring at the "Welcome to Nebraska!" Poster hanging up on the wall of the office.

Mike was leaning back in his chair, headphones on and hiding from the world. Aella watched as his chest went up and down softly with his breaths.

The thunder outside had Aella on high alert, constantly checking the cameras and the door that stayed wide open the entire time her and Mike were at work.

She had a few more things to work on in the office before she could move onto the other parts of the restaurant, even thought she didn't want to go alone.

She could wait until Mike woke up so he could come along with her, but he would just sleep for most of his shift. She'd have to suck it up one of these days.

She finally stood up and walked towards the pile of papers sitting on the chair at the other end of the office. She split the stack into threes and started ripping them up while simultaneously reading their contents.

She hummed a quiet song to herself as she worked, thundering continuing to crash as the lights in the office also blinked on and off.

The lights continued to worsen as Aella made her way through the papers, eyebrows scrunching as all the lights began to flicker. She turned around, about to call out for Mike when she already saw him awake and sitting up.
