Chapter VI: The Louvern Castle Part 2

Start from the beginning

"What a lonely place, isn't it?" she couldn't help but exclaim but it was not a joke or something. She heaved a sigh. "Well, what do I expect? The only people who lived in a gigantic house like this were two maids, one cook, one gardener, you, and then the prince himself."

Seventh flinched and swallowed his own saliva when he heard her accurately enumerate everyone living in the castle. As his loyal right-hand man, the prince already told him about the lady having a precognitive ability and her immunity against his master's curse. It was as if he was walking with the final boss and since she was at the back following him, he couldn't help but feel alert. He shook his head and cleared his mind. There's no way a lady could hurt a fearless man like him. After all, he used to be a mercenary and he's quick to dodge any attack from behind.

On the other hand, Reina had no idea that the man before her was overwhelmed by her presence. She continued roaming her gaze around the area while ranting in her mind about the strange frames with funny faces of people who had been pinned on the wall as they passed by them.

What a weird hairstyle, she mentally thought in one of the picture frames as she tried to stop herself from laughing. She was in that state when they finally reached their destination.

The room that had been prepared for her was surprisingly two times larger than her room in the Belfford mansion. Rather than feeling disappointed because of the gloomy ambiance of the room that welcomed her, it pinched a bit of nostalgia in her knowing that she used to live in an empty room in her previous life. There was only a classic wooden bed with a white canopy, a closet, one wooden chair, and a wooden table with a lighted candle above.

"What's the purpose of that thing when the lights are already turned on?" she asked while pointing to the candle.

"See it yourself," the man replied coldly as he put her small luggage on the top of the bed.

As soon as the man left her alone, she joyfully dived into the soft cushion like a professional swimmer. She rolled back and forth until she felt satisfied. She took her things out of her traveling bag and when she was about to put her clothes in the closet, she was taken aback to see that the furniture had already dressed inside.

"Eh? Whose dresses are these and why are they here? Am I in the right room?" Her brows automatically furrowed as she scanned the dresses one by one. From what she had observed, the dresses looked expensive and more daring than the ones she brought. They're the type of dress that doesn't suit her preference.

"Damn, playboy," she said and frowned at the thought that maybe the prince had a secret affair whom he had been keeping inside the castle. Perhaps, Seventh had mistaken and brought her to the wrong room.

"Playboy who?"

She almost jumped from shock upon hearing a deep, manly yet familiar voice behind her. When she turned around, she met the coldest pair of purple eyes she had ever seen in her whole existence.

It was Prince Darius, wearing his white long sleeves which the two buttons were unclasped, and black pants. She gasped and almost cussed at how beautiful the person she was staring at was. His long jet-black hair had been tied sideways and some fringes were freely hanging to his forehead. He looked exhausted but it didn't make him any less handsome.

She then cleared her dry throat and looked at the door of the room which she had made sure to close earlier. It was still closed and locked.

"How did you get in here?" she curiously asked and returned her gaze at him. She stepped away as if maintaining a safe distance from him. "I thought you didn't want to see me."

"Why? Am I not allowed to enter the room of my own castle? And I never said I didn't want to see you."

His eyes which were cold a while ago suddenly beamed when he glanced at the tiny flame in the candle which was standing at the top of the table. He quickly breathed air into it and the light disappeared. He looked at her again, there's a hint of annoyance in his face.
