"Move! Quickly please!" He runs through the streets, impatient to reach his destination. "Out of the way!" He yells as he tries to push through the crowds of people flooding the roads. "I need to get through. Quickly!" He shouts.

Whispers can be heard from every direction. Villagers asking questions, throwing weird looks in the boys direction. "Isn't that the only son of the imperial palace? Why's he running through the streets like a maniac?" A wide eyed villager begins to ask. "Do you think the empress knows?" Another.

"Sunghoon! Stop!" An older man follows behind him, stopping here and there to take a few breathers. He looks to the gossiping villagers, "did you happen to see which way he went?"

The villagers stare for a minute before an old woman taps his shoulder and gives him a warm smile. She points to the med center.

The older man's eyes follow her scrawny finger as a wave of worry sets in. "Thank you!" He says before making his way in the direction with speed.

"Let me through!" Sunghoon finally reaches the tent, nervous to pull back the flap, not knowing if he's ready. He stands there for only two seconds before he takes a deep breath and carefully pulls the flap back to step inside. It's a large tent with lots of space. There are assigned areas for certain patients. He makes his way to the area where all of the 'incurables' were.

He walks down the path until he reaches the bed on the far end. The prettiest spot, where most of the sun was coming in.

He sees the fragile, pale body in the bed facing the sun and has to suppress his tears. "Hey..." he says, "How are you feeling? Any better?" He asks the questions quickly as he sits his knees on the ground to crouch beside the bed.

The boy looks over to Sunghoon and just shoots him a smile. "A little better. My cough is slowly going away." The boy tells Sunghoon.

But he knows it's a lie. Maybe his cough was going away, but he wasn't feeling better, and sunghoon knew that. He could see that.

"Niki... I know you're hurting. It's okay, you can be honest." Niki's face saddens a little bit. He knows Sunghoon is worried. He was hoping he could avoid telling him for a little while longer but fate had other plans.

"Hoon..." He pauses, calming himself down before speaking again. "The- the doctors said that... I likely wouldn't survive this sickness. They said it is severe, something they have never seen before. They don't know how to treat it."

Sunghoons eyes widen, as tears begin to well up in his water lines. He closes his eyes harshly, only for a moment. He doesn't want to cry in front of Niki, not while he's in this state.

But Niki's isn't stupid. He reaches his cold pale hands to Sunghoons cheeks. He gently rubs the slightly red skin with his thumbs.

"Don't be scared. I'll be okay." He smiles. Sunghoon scoffs at this. He knows he shouldn't, but what is he talking about? "Don't lie to me. You're going to die! I'm never going to see you again!" Sunghoon raises his voice, and the small tears make their way down his face.

Niki flinches a little, not used to ever hearing Sunghoon yell at him. His own tears begging to well. Not because he's scared, but because he's heartbroken, for Sunghoon.

The two were kids when they met, only five and seven. They spent a total of twelve years together before Niki got sick. 13 years of friendship... thirteen years of love and memories. How can Sunghoon cope with losing his other half? His soul...

"Hoon-hyung." Niki states fiercely, getting the olders attention with the rarely used nickname. I know that it's hard... but please. You have to be happy. I don't want you to be sad in my last moments. Don't mourn me, remember me. You're all I have left." Sunghoon looks at him for a second before deciding to plant a soft and chaste kiss to the youngest forehead.

Niki smiles softly. Right after he breaks into a cough. It makes his entire body burn. Sunghoon quickly grabs the bucket beside his bed and watches the crimson liquid fall into the metal.

He rubs the youngers back until he nudges the bucket back his way, indicating he was okay.

"Niki..." Sunghoon says softly. "Don't worry hoon." Niki says, quickly tucking his shaking hands under the blanket not wanting Sunghoon to see.

"Um, before I came in i saw some flowers in front of the tent. They were pretty, just like you." Sunghoon says with a slight blush.

Niki smiles at his friends cute hue as he suppresses another cough. He holds back tears
with his next statement. "If they're so pretty, can you bring me some?"

Sunghoons face brightens just a little bit. Niki had never given into him before. He was more than happy to bring the flowers. "Will you be okay for just a minute? I'll be quick!" Sunghoon says placing one more kiss on his crush's forehead. "Don't worry about me." Niki says.

Sunghoon smiles " Okay." before heading out of the tent.

Niki breaks into tears as soon as he sees the boy leave the tent. He's known since his cough got worse that he wouldn't make it. He's been hiding the blisters on his skin from Sunghoon, hoping he wouldn't notice.

He decides to get comfy, resting his arms on his stomach, fluffing his pillow and shedding his last few tears. He closes his eyes knowing he won't open them again.

A few moments later, the older boy comes back in with the flowers. He makes his way back to the far end and sees Niki laying down. He walks up to him and nudges his arm to wake him up. "Look! I got the flowers! See?" He nudges a few more times.

When Niki doesn't budge he begins to worry. He nudges him a little harder. "Um, They're your favorite! See?"

The boy doesn't budge.

He begins to push him, shaking him now. "Niki..." He notices the pale boys not breathing. He knows what happened... but he refuses to believe it. He drops the flowers to the ground and uses both hands to shake Niki.

"Niki! Wake up!" He cries. "Wake up! Wake up!" The sobs can be heard outside the tent. Catching the older man from earlier off guard. He quickly makes his way inside the tent.

"Niki!" Sunghoon crawls behind the boy, sitting him in his lap. He knows what this means. He picks up the youngers cold, lifeless and pale hands. He intertwined their fingers, holding them close to his heart.

He knows...

"Sunghoon!" The older man runs up to the bed at the far end. He looks at the weeping boy, cradling his old friend. He feels for the boy he helped raise.

"He's gone... he um, said he wanted some flowers." He sobs some more as he holds Niki as close as he can to himself.

The man begins to tear. Fearing the breakdown it would cause if anymore tears were shed, he just decides to sit beside the bed. He rubs the youngers arms in light up and down motions.

"He's gone."

"I know..."

Sobs and curses are all that streams from the youngers mouth. He feels betrayed. He's not sure why but he does. "I have to do something."

The older stops rubbing his arms, but doesn't take his eyes off the ground.

"Are you sure that's what you want?"

"I'm sure."

"Then....when your done here, come see me. I hope I can lend some comfort." The man states. Confused but grateful, Sunghoon stares back at the man.

"Thank you mr. kwon..."

He smiles at the younger. "Soonyoung. Remember?"

Sunghoon just smiles back, turning his head back to face his other half with endless waterfalls of tears cascading down his face.
