The engine of the bus came to a momentary halt, making a hissing sound as the doors opened. I exhale, my breath being visible in the cold air of dawn like gray smoke. My hand grasps the handrail, pulling myself up and walking up the three inclining steps. I give a slight nod of appreciation towards the bus driver.

The bus driver gives a slight hum in response. I walk down the thin aisle, letting out a huff as I sit down. I place my backpack in my lap, and lean my head against the window.

The bus whirs to life, the engine humming. A squeal escapes the doors as they close, and the bus jerks slightly before moving. My gaze lingers on the blurred trees out the window as we drive, tapping my feet along with the engine hum to create a beat.

The ferocity of the engine once again came to a halt as more students trudged their way on. The bus erupted in conversation, and it gets a bit loud. A kid around my age with curly blond-ish hair approaches my seat.

"May I... sit... here-? All the other seats are... taken," he smiles sheepishly as my eyes scan him up and down- before moving aside in my seat to make room for him.

He looks up and smiles slightly before sitting down next to me. He puts his own backpack in his own lap, and instrument case between his feet. He clears his throat, and inhales shakily.

"What's.... uh, what's your name?" he looks a tiny bit anxious as I lock eyes with him.

I raise an eyebrow, and inhale before responding a cautious "Apollo," while I smirk slightly.

"Uhm... cool... cool name! I'm uh... Archer. Archer Gray," he smiles, and I smile back

I lean back up against the window, while Archer shifts next to me. He undoes the zipper of his backpack, and takes out his phone. He turns it on and plugs in some headphones. He closes his backpack and bites the inside of his cheek.

Archer furrows his eyebrows and offers out a headphone to me. I take it, nestling it in my ear. Coldplay. I give a subtle nod of appreciation. He relaxes a bit as I don't push him away, and leans his head back against the seat. He closes his eyes and lets out a hum from his chest, then sighs- his lips parted slightly.

I blush slightly so I look away.
