Chapter Three: Thin and See-Through Tricks

Sana's POV & Present Tense:

Killua checks his stopwatch. 

"Normally, 

how long would it take that candle to burn down?" He asks. 

Kurapika replies with, 

"Five to six hours?" 

As he finishes saying that, a gust of wind blows up. 

Obviously I heard it coming legitimately five minutes ago, but whatever. 

Gon covers his candle. 

"Whoa... That was close." 

The prisoner keeps smiling, 

and I don't like it one bit. 

Whatever liquid he used is taking a long time. 

"A strong wind is coming from below. 

That means we should watch our step...

No time to relax, huh..." Leorio says. 

Yeah, no kidding. 

Gon looks up and down between his and the prisoner's candle. 

Then the prisoner chuckles. 

"If you don't pay attention, your candle will go out." He informs. 

Gon doesn't stop though. 

"That's because you're planning to do something bad.

Otherwise, your candle would go out first." 

Gon, you don't say things like that to your opponent. 

And it's not planning if he's already done it. 

"I won't do anything.

After all...

I've already taken steps." 

As soon as he finishes that sentence, Gon's candle goes haywire. 

It bursts with flames. 

So it was oil. 

I can hear it from the way the candle is burning. 

"Hey! Look at Gon's candle! 

The flame suddenly became stronger!" Leorio reports. 

A drop of sweat falls down on the side of Kurapika and Leorio's head because of the magnitude of the situation. 

"He must have hidden gunpowder or some other highly flammable substance inside, 

to make the candle burn faster!" Kurapika tells us. 

The wax drops to the floor, 

so quickly that Gon's fingers are heating up already. 

"H-Hot..." He says while passing the candle from hand to hand. 

Killua starts to take it seriously. 

"At this rate, his candle will only last another two or three minutes.

Damn!" He noted. 

Leorio puts his hands up to his face to complain, 

"Hey! That was dirty! 

I knew you tampered with the long candle!" 

From the way the prisoner's grinning, 

he's probably having a whole villain inner monouloge right now. 

Gon stops the wincing and saying that it's hot.
