"...sorry? You are sorry now?!"
His voice grew with anger and I shrunk with fear, there was no hope for me, was there?
"You care about nothing but yourself!"
He continued leaving me frozen.
Who was I trying to fool? I knew it, didn't I? This Rebellion was only a tool for my revenge. Me helping Mokke was a byproduct.
So when did I start caring?
About Bubble, Cotton and dare I say even Kou? Heck even Ink to some point was still dear to me. Mint?? Not sure about that one, nah.
"I really am such an Asshole..."
I mumbled a flicker of doubt not only planting but spreading in me like a gasoline fire.
Kou was just as surprised at this as I was as I placed a hand on my face, tears flowing down.
Had guilt been eating me up this whole time?
I crouched trying to hold in my sobs and rubbed away my tears.
"Hold on a second I'll, I'll find you some bandages!"
I manage to say in a shaky voice. I couldn't believe what I was doing, putting him before the rebellion.
"No need, Minka made me help out."
Mint spoke up as he came out of the mixing room holding some kind of bottle and red cloth.
"Just pour some of this on this fabric and then wrap it around his hand. It'll be fine in some hours."
He explained while handing me the items.
"This stuff looks sketchy..."
Kou comments and Mint only shrugs before leaving to take care of all the other messes around.
I Place the items beside me and take a deep breath to compose myself before starting to untie the boy.
"Why are you doing this?"
He asked as his arms were freed and I hesitated to explain.
"...because I regret hurting you."
He scoffs with a bitter smile before saying.
"Suddenly you are all caring. I thought you weren't capable of such an emotion."
"Now that's a little dramatic. After all, I care about all Mokke."
I sniffle and he immediately speaks up
"Since when do you actually care about them?"
"I do!"
I retort and he rolls his eyes before saying
"If you did, wouldn't you care about their friend too?"
"..."
I'm silent for a moment taken off guard by this...all the things that I had done.
"Just as I thought...."
He mumbled disappointed.
"I do....I'm starting to at least."
I spoke up again. He didn't answer that instead looking at me with a mix of shock and curiosity.
"S-so how about we sit down at a table?"
I ask trying to break the sudden awkwardness as I noticed some of the supernaturals that hadn't left were kind of staring at us like we were crazy.
"Y-yeah, let's do that."
He answers while scurrying up from the ground.
In a matter of seconds, I took the 'medical supplies' and we sat down at a nearby table.
A lamp flickered over our heads in a buttery glow, shedding light on the beautifully worked yet worn wood surface. The bottle of medicine glimmered as the light fell on it and I'm sure his eyes would too if he wasn't staring down at his shoes. I opened the bottle and poured some wine red drops on the already red fabric making it turn darker.
"Give me your hand."
I order softly feeling a little awkward.
Finally, he lifts his head a bit and in silence puts his bloody hand forward. I grab it pulling it closer a little harshly so I could see it better.
The blood had mostly dried and the cut was long but didn't appear deep.
Just before I was about to dab the cloth on his palm I hesitated for a brief moment.
"Uhh so I don't know if this stings or-"
I warn as I apply the fabric on his palm but am cut off as he pulls his hand back with a flinch.
"Come on don't be such a wuss."
I tease somewhat amused as I hold out my hand for him to place his in mine once again.
"I- I was just surprised, alright!"
He defends while placing his hand back.
"Hmm, hmm sure~"
I answered cheekily noticing the peach tint on his cheeks and nose as I continued to wrap the cloth around his smooth skin, occasionally brushing against it.
"Ok, I wasn't such an Asshole when you were crying into a cushion yesterday."
Kou retorted with a pout referring to when he was treating my burns.
My breath suddenly hitches in surprise when he mentions that.
"I- that was, that was different!"
I defend feeling my heart patter uneasily.
"Yeah right, how so?"
He raises a brow as I finish wrapping his hand.
"I- uhh alright fine, whatever, sorry."
I mumble in defeat feeling feverish. He giggles at my reply finally smiling at me once again.
"You know,"
He spoke faintly as if he was shy about something
"You can still call in that favour."
"I can?"
I was genuinely surprised when he mentioned it. I thought that was just a thing he blurted out that night, proposing to do whatever I wanted.
"I do have one condition."
He spoke up firmly, catching my interest with his glossy lips every move.
"Spit it out."
I instruct as I'm caught in his scheming gaze.
"I'll get the weapons, however, I will ensure that Teru will not harm you."
Kou explained, his blue eyes never breaking contact with mine.
I noticed my vision blur again as tears bubbled up and I forced myself to ask.
"How do you not want me gone?"
"This,"
He held up his bandaged arm with a wide grin.
"This is proof you are human."
The words resonated with me in a way I couldn't have imagined. My breath felt easier and the world looked brighter for a moment.
"You are forgiving me just like that?"
I say with genuine wonder how someone could be this pure.
"It's not that I am forgetting all you did immediately. I'm just not giving up on you!"
He exclaims his excitement and determination sparking up the room with an energy that felt like fireworks.
"Pft, so you think you can still convince me to be better?"
I say, chuckling to myself and then look to the side at a window, outside of it in the dark a single firefly glowing making me smile.
"It might be working."
He leans on the table with his good arm, resting his head in his palm.
"You don't hate me anymore, do you?"
"Eh?"
I yelp, the realization striking me like lightning. When did I stop resenting him exactly?
I felt my cheeks flush and wanted to do nothing more than avoid his eyes that curiously searched for mine.
"Can you at least not point it out."
I huff doing my best to keep my words straight as I felt like I was burning up.
"Why, are you embarrassed?"
He teases with a smirk and I search for a distraction when suddenly it pops back into my head.
Tic, tic, tic went the time as I chatted my worries away and doom inched closer.
"SHITSHITSHIT! How will we catch up with your brother at this rate?"
I say gripping my head in panic meanwhile Kou remains calm.
"Who says we have to?"
The blond says smugly as he leans back in his chair and crosses his hands behind his head.
"I don't understand, Kou we have to hurry!"
I stand up from my table but he remains still, watching me with amusement.
"WhAt's so funny?!"
I hiss feeling my nerves come back again. He stretches his arms and then looks at me and says.
"I have it~"
