MIZUNO KAI has been on the run her whole life. For as long as she could remember, her footsteps have echoed the sound of escape, never staying too long in one place. She has traversed oceans, crossed unknown territories, trusted people she shouldn't have, only to get away from her past.
However, it didn't matter how hard she tried, because it still haunted her. Every day and every night, memories of her childhood flooded her, all the betrayal and the damage she had encountered resurfacing at every given moment and stopping her from trusting again.
It didn't stop her from helping others, though. After witnessing first hand the torment her former crew caused those they deemed weaker than them, Kai told herself she was never going to stand aside when someone was being treated unjustly.
And it was this behavior that would lead her to a fateful encounter with a certain pirate in a straw hat...
