Part 12

Tom: Are you okay? You look like you're having a seizure. She chuckled.

Becca: This is my happy dance. She placed her hand on her chest and took a deep breath in. Yes.

Tom: What?

Becca: Yes, I will go out with you. Tom clapped his hands and smiled.

Tom: How about tomorrow we meet up at Regency Cafe near Big Ben? We can have breakfast there and I'll give you the rest of the tour of our beautiful London.

Becca: Perfect! Is 8:30 okay with you?

Tom: Sounds perfect, love. I'll see you tomorrow. He kissed her cheek and Becca had to pull herself together. She almost fainted from the gesture.

The rest of her vacation she spent with Tom being her tour guide. On the last day, he walked her back to her hotel room. The air filled with sadness. Neither one of them wanted things to end there.

Tom: This might sound crazy, but what if we kept talking and going on dates? This feels right Becky and I don't want it to end. She sighed.

Becca: There's a huge difference between seeing you every day physically and a long-distance relationship Tom. I don't think I can do long distance. He grabbed her hands looking deeply into her eyes.

Tom: I promise you, love, this will work. It won't be long distance forever. I can come visit you in Thailand every month if work permits it. Plus, I can get acting jobs in Thailand too. I need to learn the language, but I know someone who will probably be the best teacher for me. He winked causing her to blush. What do you say, love?

Becca: OK. Let's give it a try. He lifted her and spun her around. Put me down! Half of London will see my underwear. He set her down gently.

Tom: I like you, Becky. A lot if you haven't noticed. He caressed her cheek.

Becca: I like you too, Malfoy. He groaned as he laughed.

Tom: That's going to be my nickname, isn't it? She nodded. Coming from you, I'm fine with it. They shared a gentle kiss that changed everything for them.

Tom kept his word and went to visit Becca every month. By his 5th visit, Becca decided to introduce Tom to her parents. Patricia already knew about him and was delighted that he made Becca so happy. Robert was different.

Robert: Can we talk outside?

Tom: Of course, sir. He pressed a kiss to Becca's forehead. Be right back, love. Patricia and Becca looked at each other worriedly. They watched their conversation through the window. It looked very formal as if Tom was being interviewed. When they finished talking, they shook hands and came back inside the house without saying anything.

Robert: I like him. For the first time in her whole life, Robert gave Becca a genuine smile. With Tom in the picture, they became closer. Robert became more attentive, he listened to Becca's ideas and suggestions. He even mentioned that she would make a great captain one day. Becca finally felt happy, but something was missing. She didn't understand what it was, but she felt it. 

Tom moved to Thailand and into Becca's apartment. It seemed like things were falling into place, but Becca didn't feel happy anymore. She felt content. Her relationship with her parents was good, Tom was amazing, and she finally got the captain position at work. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. One day, Becca arrived home and she found a puppy sitting in the hallway as if he was waiting for her.

Becca: Who are you, cutie? The dog ran towards her and started licking her hand as she caressed him. Your collar says BonBon. Oh, and there's a note too. 'I'm BonBon and my new dad has a very important question for you?' She removed the note from his collar. Behind it, there was a ring held to the paper by a piece of tape.

Tom: Will you marry me, love? She grabbed the ring and turned around to face Tom. These past two years have made me realize I want more. I want an eternity with you. He pressed a kiss to the back of her hand as he grabbed the ring. So please marry me and become Mrs. Malfoy. She giggled and nodded.

Becca: Yes, I would love to. She bent down and kissed him. BonBon barked as loud as he could wanting attention. Marriage and a kid. You are full of surprises. They told her parents the next day and video-chatted with Tom's parents to give them the news as well. 

Becca was more excited about having BonBon than about the proposal. Her mom decided to plan the whole wedding with the help of Tom's parents. Robert noticed that she wasn't interested in the wedding planning.

Robert: Everything okay kid? She nodded.

Becca: Yeah, I guess I'm not interested in picking flowers and decorations for the wedding. He chuckled.

Robert: Just like me when I married your mom. How about I give you an early wedding present? She looked at him confused. I want you to handle The Artist's case.

Becca: But I thought Oliver was handling that. He shrugged.

Robert: He's getting us nowhere and I think with your expertise we could finally catch the bastard. What do you say? She hugged him tightly.

Becca: Thank you, sir. I won't fail you. He patted her back.

Robert: I hope not. Now let's go back inside before Tom goes crazy from your mother's questions.

To do a better job than Oliver, Becca hired an outside source. His name is Ryan and he had been following The Artist's moves ever since the first robbery, so he had figured out a pattern. Even with Ryan's help, Becca wasn't able to catch The Artist. She felt so much pressure from work, from her parent, Tom's, and Tom himself over the wedding. Tom was her biggest supporter, but he only reminded Becca of how she had failed in the job that her father had given to her. At her bachelorette, she drank enough to finally voice out what she was feeling.

She didn't love Tom. She loved that Tom brought her and her father together. Dao and Koi consoled her on the way home and tried to convince her not to get married. In the morning while doing her makeup, Becca realized she couldn't go through with it. She didn't want to be stuck in a marriage with no love like her parents. Dao and Koi left the wedding venue with Becca. She left an apology letter for him in the changing room. They never spoke again. He didn't even go to the apartment to pick up his stuff.

Things went back to normal. Becca worked her ass off to try to catch The Artist. Robert went back to neglecting her. Patricia hid away in the house. This is how things have been for the past two months bringing us back to our current time.
