I'm not scared anymore

Chapter twenty three: What about my rats?

        "Sunshine?!" I asked worried. She wasn't moving or answering. "What did you do to her? What is she doing here?" I asked.  I started to feel my anger growing. "Where are the ghouls" She asked. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?!" I yelled. "Nothing irreversible. She is just unconscious, i think" Sister said. "Let me go to her." I demanded. "Not before you tell me where the ghouls are." She said.

        "You just dumped her there like garbage. This floor is freezing, you have to let me to her" I said. "What aren't you understanding. Not before you tell me where the ghouls are." She said. "I don't know" I answered.

         "Okay then, let me know when you change your mind. In the meantime i have some things to do. I know exactly how i can find them." She said. "How?" I asked. "Let's just say, i have some summoning to do." She said, leaving the basement, with other sisters.

         "Sunshine? Are you okay?" I asked. No answer. "Sunshine please, you have to be okay." I said. She wasn't moving the slightest bit, only her chest rising slowly. I tried to yank open the door to my cell, but it wouldn't budge. I couldn't reach to her, i couldn't do anything.

        I sat down, leaning to the bars between our cells. "I am so sorry Sunshine." I sighed. The cement floor was freezing and i have been sitting on it for only a few minutes. I have no idea how long she had been laying there, but i know that at this point she is already hypothermic.

        I don't know how much time had passed, when i heard a little movement. My head snapped towards the voice. It was Sunshine, she was moving her arm slightly. "Sunshine, hey are you awake?" I asked. She wasn't answering, but she was moving. "Sunshine, it's Copia, how are you doing?" I asked.

         She slowly tried to move her body towards me. "C-Copia" She whispered. "Yeah, it's me. Are you okay?" I asked. "I-I don't t-think so." She answered quietly. "Are you hurt?" I asked. "I don't k-know, i think everything h-hurts." She whispered. "Oh, Sunshine. Can you come here?" I asked. "I'm n-not sure, i think i'm gonna f-fall asleep." She whispered weakly.

       I hated to see her like this. The look in her eyes was exhausted. "No Sunshine, you can't fall asleep, you have to stay awake." I said. "It's c-cold" She said. "Please Sunshine, try" I said.

         She tried to move herself closer to me, i could tell how much she was hurting just by looking at the way she was dragging herself through the floor. As soon as i could reach her, i took her hand and pulled her next to me, but there were still the bars between us. Her skin was freezing cold, it was like i was touching an ice cube.

         I reached my hands through the bars, trying to wrap my hands around her. "Try not to fall asleep, okay?" I said. "Hmmh" She hummed. "What did they do to you Sunshine?" I asked. "I w-went to the nurse and i heard t-them saying t-that they want t-to get rid of us. I w-was leaving to warn o-others, but they injected m-me with something and now i'm h-here." She whispered. "I'm so so sorry Sunshine" I said.

        "Did they get a-away?" She asked. "Yeah they did." I answered. "A-Aether?" She asked. "Yes he went with Mountain, getting him to leave wasn't easy though." I answered. "Good" She sighed.

         She lowered her head on my hand as she was leaning to the bars. "We have to get you out of here" I said. "You can't t-tell Susan where t-they are. What     e-ever happens, don't tell h-her." She said. "But Sunshine-" I started. "P-Promise me" She demanded. "I promise" I sighed. Still i have to find a way to get her out of her, but how i have no idea.

Amelia's pov:

I woke up, feeling so tired. I was still feeling bad, but it was nothing compared to how i felt before. "Rain?" I whispered. I looked around me, not recognizing the room i was in. 'Where the hell am i? Am i back at the church? Did they capture me? No no no, i have to get away.' I thinked.

        I slowly got up from the bed. I was still pretty dizzy, but i had to run. I headed out of the room i was in. Another bigger room opened as i left the room where i woke up.

        In the big room was a man, i didn't pay attention to my surroundings, the only thing i knew was to get away and find Rain. "Hey look at you, you are awake." The man said.

         I hurried to the door that was leading outside. "Where are you going?" The man said heading towards me. "Get away from me" I yelled, trying to yank the door open, only for it to be locked. "Let me out!" I yelled. "No, don't go" The man said. I backed to the wall behind me. "No, stay away, don't come any closer." I said.

         I had no idea what was happening. Who was this man and where is Rain. "It's okay" He said, slowing down his speed, but still approaching. "Don't touch me, don't hurt me" I said, crouching down into a small ball, trying to protect myself. "Hurt you? No i won't hurt you" He said.

         "Amelia!?" You're awake?" I heard Rain's voice. "It's okay Robert, she just needs a minute." Rain says coming to me. "Is she okay?" Robert asks. "Yeah, i got it, thank you" Rain answers. "Hey Amelia, everything is okay. You're okay" He said, crouching next to me. "Rain?" I said, looking up to see if it was really him.

         "Hey, i'm glad to see you awake. How are you feeling?" Rain asked. "Where are we?" I asked. "Remember the sandwich place where we once visited?" Rain asked. "Your favorite place?" I asked. "Yes. You remember Mr. Clark?" He asked.

         I looked at the man again. "Oh, i'm so sorry. I didn't recognize you" I said. "It's okay" Robert answered. We headed to one of the tables to sit down and talk. Robert headed to the kitchen so me and Rain could talk in peace.

       "How are you feeling?" Rain asked. "Better, still a little dizzy, but it'll be fine." I answered. "That's good" Rain said. "Have you heard from others?" I asked. "Yeah, Cirrus made a group chat so we can text. Everyone got away from the church, except for Sunshine" Rain said. "Copia will take care of her." I said. "Yeah, i know. I just feel bad for Aether. Imagining that i would have to leave you behind, that's impossible." Rain said.

        Rain is right. I couldn't even imagine leaving him behind. "Robert lets us stay here for a few days and then i think we should head further away from the church." Rain said. "Yeah, they would find us here pretty fast." I said.

        I miss being together with them band, i got so used to all of them being around. I hope at some point we can find a place where we all could stay together. But until that i'm glad to have Rain with me, in the end, he is all i need.
