ELAS'S POV:
"i think you're just missing out on the normal things." i hear my sister's words echo through my head in the deep dark night. my ear against my pillow and my hands fiddling with its case. it's already too late to be awake, let alone waste my time of trying to sleep with thinking about the past. dior says its bad to dwell in the past. ive somehow been feeling a bit empty with my life lately, everything i want is just given to me because of our rich status. i dont really get to help dior with work since he's the so called "boss" just because he's the eldest sibling, so all i do is hang around all day and look around to people struggling. its starting to feel so stupid. at least i have my best friend Saint who tries to talk to me often, but even Saint is busy with his job. alena was right, im missing out on the normal things, its been like this ever since i was born, i wouldn't know any better. i suddenly realised i opened my eyes and it has turned morning, i fell asleep during my thoughts. i am ready to greet another day just the same as this one, maybe ill do some fencing practice, or tell our servant to keep it simple for breakfast this time around. but...other than that im stuck in a rhythm. suddenly, i hear the doorbell ring. i hear our servant open the door and greet our guest, even that im not allowed to do on my own. i recognise that voice, and i run out of my room to meet it.
"SAINT!" i yelled from the top of the stairs. i notice his big brown eyes meet my yellow ones as he smiled.
"hey there elas! i need to talk to you!" saint said in their beautiful british accent. i nudged towards my room, inviting him up. i saw saint bid the servant goodbye in the corner of my eye before he made their way upstairs too. i sat him down on my bed as i noticed he rushed over, he works a night job so its a wonder saint can still manage to wake up early.
"what's up dear?" i asked my best friend as i sat next to him and threw my legs over his. he grabbed them out of habit, to make sure i wouldn't fall.
"you know how you've been feeling too privileged lately?"
"well...i wouldn't say that i just-"
"fine, you're bored with life"
"well not bored either i just dont-"
"elas. we're going out tonight, bring your finest attire....i might have a job for you."
i fell quiet for a second.
"a job?" i mumbled, i never thought of that before.
"yeah! something to do! its a really nice place. we'll be colleagues!" my eyes widen in surprise.
"YOU MEAN THE WOLF DEN?" i said, the wolf den is a very popular club, the most famous around town. saint makes everyone's drinks behind the bar, so it would be nice. i love the wolf den, i think its awesome...but would i fit in?
"our uh...waiter seemed to have gone missing. Koryn, you might even have heard of him. so my boss is looking for a new waiter until Koryn returns."
"missing? oh my..." my heart sinks for the guy. i see saint give me an encouraging look, how could i ever say no to him.
"fine, pick me up at 8" i smile, saint squeels and kicks his legs.
"as i said, finest attire, i promise you you want to make a good impression on the boss. he's...quite.......well.....ah you'll know when you see him! no worries. i have to go pick up some groceries, i just got paid so..."
it was silent for a solid 3 seconds, saint never talked about his financial status around me, but i don't think he's doing too well.
"ANYWAYS, ill see you tonight." saint swooped my legs off of him and stood up, they were too quick to catch, so i just let him go. i shook my head at the thought, a job huh? me?

.
*THE NIGHT BEFORE*
the wolf den was just emptying with its customers, it was around 2 am, and the club shut its doors for the night. it was owned by a man named Alpha, at least, that's what they called him. his brother, Akkar, was the face of the club and helped Alpha around the joint. the club had a secret, it was tainted with darkness. for it was the mafia's favourite spot, and everyone was involved somehow. especially grace and alpha, who were the criminal masterminds behind the local mafia. but, ofcourse, everyone swore to know of nothing. it was a safe place.
.
We had our bartender, Saint aradan.
our bouncer, Armus Aimery.
our dancer and entertainer, Grace glynnfire.
our waiters, viktoria...and koryn.
our jazz artist, Akkar zelentano.
and the club owner, Alpha Kelhana.
.
alpha had called everyone together at a table to sit down, talk, and have a final drink. everyone filled the seats as they all were given a shotglass with vodka by saint. armus raised his glass, and everyone followed. "to saint" he spoke. "for getting us wasted" saint got a slight blush as he hid a smile. armus locked eyes with him for a second before cheersing everyone, making sure to look them all in the eye. and they all took a shot.
it was silent for a bit, until akkar spoke up.
"how did your guests act today bro? i bet they didn't appreciate you couldn't deliver their drugs." nobody would dare to speak to alpha at his first look. he had dyed hair, deep and strange scars, beautiful siren eyes, tattoos covering his arms, a dark suit and never smiled. but as a boss, he was a chill guy.
"i told them I'd do it. i heard they found a new guy to make my deliveries, we can let the old guy rest now." akkar's face dropped.
"dude?? the italian mafia?? they're probably the reason the guy died in the first place!"
"i know" alpha said in his deep calm voice.
"they're nothing against us. dont worry." with that silence rose again.
"i wanted to talk to you all." alpha started.
"grace, how did you handle things with koryn?"
"i did as you asked, baby. he's waiting for you in our hide out. and i didn't lay a finger on him like you asked!" to that alpha raised an eyebrow, and everybody looked at grace.
"okay....maybe he's missing some teeth? so what?" she pouted as she leaned back in her chair.
"perfect, thanks"
"y'r welcome daddy" she whispered with a wink.
"viktoria, how did it go today? i saw you had some trouble serving."
"yeah, its, a shame koryn is gone.." she acted as she glanced at saint, who looked down. "but im not sure if i can handle all these tables by myself, i might need a raise." Alpha showed his teeth in a small smile.
"nice try, i suppose we need a new waiter. but, i cant just hire anyone. they'll run to the police if they ever notice something is off. like koryn did. i need someone i can trust, or someone we won't tell our secrets to."
"OH I KNOW!" saint interupted. which made the whole table look. they cleared their throat.
"uh....i have a friend who is....looking for a job. he's really good at serving and uh..a really big fan of your club mr kelhana!" saint knew getting elas mixed in the mafia wasn't a good idea, but he already had dior in his family, who once tried to assassinate the wolf dens' very own alpha. and so elas was automatically tainted aswell. alpha sat back in his chair with a satisfied look.
"tell me more."
