75 is a very big day
I hate that you're so far away
It's a long time to live
But, you make it seem easy
I'm sorry, if this poem is cheesy
As husband to a queen
You bought diamond rings
Then raised two princesses
& put us in dresses
Still going strong
After living so long
Not bald, barely gray
On this special birthday
Started as a bank clerk
Now doing the Lord's work
Business is a breeze
Collecting money with ease
Advice always comes free
Though it doesn't stick with me
You push me to be better
You're a real go-getter
You make my standards high
For the man I will choose
I'll be single 'til I die
'Cause any less I'll refuse
Football is our favorite
We've watched many games
Though over the years
Players names have changed
From switching lightbulbs
To helping me move
From water to mountains
Though you may not approve
Injured by a washer
While acting tough
Healing wasn't easy
That patch of life was rough
You supported me every chance
No recital was missed
Years spent watching me dance
My hobbies weren't a short list
Every game I cheered at
Or horse that I rode
& with all of my piano
Our schedule never slowed
We played catch in the yard
Though I wasn't very good
You helped me with math
'Til I later understood
I'd lick steak sauce as you grilled
Though it made you & mom mad
The silver dollar pancakes
You made were really rad
You say icebox, not fridge
& supper for dinner
You have many odd phrases
That I consider winners
For all of this & more
You're a pretty cool dad
So have the best birthday
Don't spend it feeling sad

Random Bits Part II
PoetryA continuation of poetry similar to that in my first self-published novel. I will slowly begin adding some newer things from the past few years since I published the first book.
