33. Something About Beck

Start from the beginning

Beck placed his hand over hers, stopping her from wiping off the table. "Come on... You've done enough, I come here every night you work, you're always doing your best."

Veronica averted her eyes, she knew that if she looked at him she couldn't say no.

He grabbed her chin and forced her to look him in the eyes, she sighed and nodded, "Okay... fine."

Beck gave her a shit-eating smirk and Veronica flicked him in the temple. She grabbed her rag and threw it into the kitchen, then went back to the locker room.

She got dressed in her normal clothes then exited the building from the back exit and walked back around to the front to find Beck leaning against a black limousine.

"Holy shit, is that yours?" Veronica gasped, raising her right hand to her mouth.

Beck grinned and nodded, he walked over to the back door and opened for Veronica. She cautiously entered the vehicle, sitting down on the seat closest to the back of the car. Beck slid in the seat across from her and signaled for the driver to start driving.

Veronica glanced around the luxurious car and kept her arms loosely crossed. Beck poured two glasses of champagne and handed one to Veronica.

She looked at him and took a sip, "Why'd you pick me?"

"What?" He asked, looking at her with confusion. "Like why not one of the other girls, or like an actual sex worker?"

"Aren't you a sex worker?" Beck replied, raising an eyebrow with a grin.

"Oh... Well actually, I guess so... Just more of a 'fancy' dancer. It's just, I've never done this before, y'know... like housecalls?"

For once, Beck didn't look so flirty and promiscuous. He actually looked sympathetic, "It's okay... Veronica, I know what you've been through. That was fucking insane, but I promise not all people are like that. There are good people in this world."

"Are you one of those good people?" Veronica asked with a slight smile.

"Oh, babe. Definitely not." Beck winked and took a sip of his champagne. Veronica looked down at her hands, observing her dark red painted nails.

"That color looks amazing on you." Beck commented with another one of those shit-eating grins.

Veronica rolled her eyes and sighed, a smile on her face as she glanced at him. "Thanks, actually..."

The two sat in silence for a while, Beck watched as Veronica's cheek grew pink at his comment. He wondered how she'd been treated in her teen years, especially by her abductors.

"What do you like to do in your free time?" Beck asked, breaking the silence.

Veronica's brows raised slightly, "Oh... um, I dunno. I watch TV and stuff..."

Beck rolled his eyes with a scoff, "Come on, I'm sure you do more than that. Tell me, Veronica."

Veronica let out a breathy laugh, "Okay... I guess I draw sometimes and I got back into skateboarding a bit ago."

Beck nodded and smiled, "That's great, Ronnie. You should show me your art sometime."

Veronica shrugged with a shy grin, "Maybe..."

Why was Beck making her feel this way? This wasn't what she wanted to feel. Not for Beck. But then again... maybe he would treat her well...

She looked down at her hands again, then back up at Beck who was still grinning.

Veronica felt the car come to a stop and looked out the window. She was shocked to see a very large house.

Beck slid towards the door and opened it, getting out then holding it open for Veronica.
