Chapter 2: The Class Reunion

Start from the beginning

"Here. Sit with me." Sarina immediately feels her face heat up with the kind male's offer. She slightly pulled her hair behind her ear before walking towards the male who just kindly offered her a seat.

But...

"Ugh!"

"Samidori-san! Are you okay?"

It was then faint laughter resounded in their circle. The black haired gently tried to take her seat after one classmate of hers purposely tripped her on her way towards the male. She then feels someone holding onto her wrist. Thankfully, her glasses weren't harmed.

"Here, let me help." She sees Kenji reach out his hand to help her stand after she fell on the floor, chest first.

"Thank you." She tried to smile only to hear more laughter from her classmates.

"Sorry, Samidori-chan. I didn't mean to."

"Must be because of your long skirt."

"Will you guys cut it out?" Kenji once again retorts to his classmates who are still laughing before holding onto her wrist to guide her on his wrist.

As soon as she took her seat, she finally noticed that most of her classmates are present and circled around a few tables with colored drinks, beers, and finger foods.

"Sorry, Samidori-san. They're being mean again." She turns back and meets the man's gaze.

"It's fine. Yuto-kun said he didn't mean to." She responded.

Of course, she knows that the man did it on purpose. She's used to her classmates being a bit unfriendly towards her. Everyone has their history. Sarina has hers.

"How are you doing, by the way?" Kenji asks with a kind smile.

"I'm okay. I am still applying for a job that I have been eyeing to ever since we were in high school." She answered which made the male nod.

"What about you? I heard you're a college professor. That's amazing, Kenji-kun." As she said that with sincerity, the male got a bit shy.

"Oh, I'm still an instructor. I am taking my master's degree to become a regular and become an official professor. But things aren't easy." He responded humbly.

"That's still amazing. You're doing a lot better than I am. I am practically still unemployed." She answered honestly and fidgeted on her hair.

Before the male could respond, they hear laughter from the group again.

"You're still unemployed, Samidori? Talk about lame."

"Aren't you ashamed of being with us right now? We're literally successful people. A lot better than you."
