What if Sasuke learned Sage Mode?

Sage Mode is one of the most unique aspects in the Naruto universe. It allows the user to gather up a new form of chakra known as Senjutsu in this mode the user's strength, speed, durability, and stamina increases dramatically. It also allows the user to tap into the natural force of the world, opening up new techniques to them and allowing them to power up existing ones with the new senjutsu chakra. There are two places where you can learn Sage Mode at Mount Myōboku by the toads and at Ryūchi Cave by the snakes. As we all know there are only a few characters that can use Sage Mode, however Sasuke isn't one of them which is a real shame I feel like it was a completely wasted opportunity on Kishimoto's part in my opinion as it opens the door for a lot of possibilities. However what if this wasn't the case? What if Sasuke did learn Sage Mode at one point in the series? How would the Naruto story change would it be for better or would it be for worse? In today's episode of What If we're going to be looking at just that scenario so without further ado let's get started.

The only way I can see Sasuke learning Sage Mode is during the timeskip when he's training with Orochimaru. I do think that Sasuke would be aware of Sage Mode since Orochimaru does take Sasuke on tours to his hideouts where he likely learns Jugo's clan who is known for their Sage Mode. At some point Sasuke would ask Orochimaru where he can learn Sage Mode so he could get strong enough to defeat Itachi. Orochimaru would tell him about Ryūchi Cave to learn Sage Mode from the White Snake Sage. He'd instruct Kabuto to find it and after some tike he eventually does promptly Sasuke and Orochimaru to go to the location. And from there his training in Sage Mode would begin. Now Sasuke learning Sage Mode changes everything especially snake Sage Mode, this means that Sasuke would have another transformation this means he can learn some new techniques especially ones that come from lightning release which is most likely he could possibly also use a few of Kabuto's Sage techniques like White Rage and Inorganic Reincarnation. However unlike Kabuto, Sasuke wouldn't be able to absorb nature constantly since he doesn't have Jugo's passive ability to do that so he would be limited on how long he can use Sage Mode. Nonetheless this means that Sasuke in this timeline would be a lot more broken than he was originally this is where our first change in the timeline occurs the Tenchi Bridge arc.

When Sasuke encounters Naruto, Sakura, Sai, and Yamato Sasuke would absolutely destroy them with Sage Mode if he's not already in Sage Mode already. But regardless if he is or not the fight ends in the same way as Orochimaru shows up to stop Sasuke from killing Team 7 as he did originally and then escape to the next hideout.

The next major change that occurs is Sasuke's fight with a very sick Orochimaru given how how strong Sage Mode Sasuke would be I can see Sasuke killing Orochimaru much sooner than he did originally if Orochimaru tries to take Sasuke's body then Sasuke would just absorb Orochimaru. After forming Team Hebi they go to look for Itachi then this is where we get to the Deidara fight, where Sasuke absolutely destroys Deidara with Sage Mode and Curse Mark combined. The story progresses much the same until we get to the Itachi fight I think it would be interesting to see Sasuke use Sage Mode and Curse Mark which with those two combined would give Itachi quite the battle however given hoe carful of a calculator Itachi is especially since he's fighting with the clear intention on remove the Curse Mark from him I can see Itachi finding away around Sasuke's Sage Mode and try and out last him long enough until Sasuke runs out of Sage Mode. Once Sasuke uses Kirin the fight stays pretty much the same especially since Sasuke at this point ran out if senjutsu chakra and thus is forced to have to recharge it but at that point Itachi pokes him on the forehead before he dies. From here the story progresses much the same, Obito would tell Sasuke the truth about Itachi, which would cause Sasuke to want revenge on Konoha and awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan.

Where things do get interesting is the battle with Killer Bee and the Eight Tails. Now Sasuke with Sage Mode and Mangekyo Sharingan could definitely overwhelm Killer Bee, I mean assuming that he does that same trick he did in the originally however I do think Sasuke would still struggle because Sasuke at this point would be as strong as Sage Mode Naruto during the Pain arc so I can still definitely see Killer Bee escaping though it remains possible that Sasuke could sense where the real Killer Bee is but at that point it would likely be already too late as he already escaped so in that case.

The next major change would occur is the Five Kage Summit arc. Sasuke with Sage Mode can definitely destroy all the samurai in a matter of seconds and by the time the Raikage arrives there will be a pile of dead bodies at Sasuke's feet. Sage Mode Sasuke would definitely give the Raikage a hard time. However considering the Raikage's speed I can still see Sasuke getting speed blitz from her most of the Five Kage summit arc remains the same until we get into the Danzo fight, Obito would still destroy Danzo's guards and then sit back as Sasuke uses Sage Mode to utterly destroy Danzo and the fight ends much sooner than originally. Danzo still deserves Shisui's eye before he died though. When we get to the fight with Kakashi and Naruto, I think Sasuke by that point would've ran out of Sage Mode.

After that most if the story progresses much the same until we get to Sasuke and Itachi's fight with Kabuto where Sasuke has the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan. Given that both Sasuke and Kabuto both have the snake Sage Mode I can see their abilities countering each other, I do think Itachi would still use Izanami on Kabuto like he did originally.

But after that the changes end here, though the idea of Naruto and Sasuke combining both toad and snake Sage Modes would be very awesome to see they could likely learn some new Sage Art techniques. And when Sasuke gets the Rinnegan due to having Sage Mode and Six Paths chakra would definitely be a lot deadlier than originally plus due to snake Sage Mode having some kind of transformation we would have both Six Paths Naruto and Sasuke having transformations. Regardless of these abilities though once we get to the Valley of the End final fight, Sasuke would still admit defeat at Naruto's hands.

So basically nothing much of the story changed except for the Sasuke parts of the story. If he did use Sage Mode earlier though I can see Naruto learning Sage Mode earlier as well but other than that the Naruto portion of the story doesn't change much.
