*A/N* Hello, everyone! So, this will be a short story based on a request that I was given, fair warning, this probably will not be my best work, it's not a very serious story, just a fun little oneshot. There will be further updates to this, I just wanted to get this out before I go on vacation for a few weeks. Enjoy!
Parker definitely wasn't your average cop, he wasn't tall or bulky or intimidating or anything that a policeman was supposed to be. In fact, he was so far in the opposite direction that his mom had flat out laughed when he had said he wanted to join the police academy straight out of high-school. She'd been convinced for years that he would change is mind and be reasonable, go work in a café or something where he wouldn't get his ass handed to him, but, for all the great things that Parker was, reasonable had never been one of them.
It had been hell getting on the roster list, but he'd made it work and had gotten his college education from the academy after three years of the co-op, three long years of constantly ridicule, but he'd made it. At the age of 20, Parker had walked up on that stage and had been given his diploma and his police badge and had started his career as an officer of the law just a month later. In the grand scheme of things, everything had gone relatively smoothly, almost too good to be true. Parker had known to expect some hard times ahead, he just hadn't been ready for how big the bump along the road would actually be.
~~~~~
Parker had been sent on a simple scouting mission, in and out, no conflict. Just check out an abandoned drug den in the woods, scope out any activity and report back, no interaction, it should've been easy. It was because of this that the young officer found himself alone in the woods that night, walking the overgrown trail that led to the camp-out. But, if he'd been paying attention, he would have found that he wasn't alone.
~~~~~
Liam Andino wasn't one to get attached, he considered himself married to his work and took great pride in being the leader of the city's mafia. He had never taken a partner of any kind, it wasn't in his interests. So it didn't surprise anyone more than he when he suddenly fell for somebody, head over heals, hopelessly, helplessly fell in love. No, not love, not quite, but it took his breath away all the same, this...OBSESSION.
It had happened casually, if it had been another day, another moment, if his eyes had wandered in the other direction, he wouldn't have seen him, but he did, and it tore his world apart. At once, Liam had ordered an investigation done, he at least wanted to know the name of the stranger who had captured his interests. But, when the results came back, it didn't ease his curiosity. Parker Lang was the kid's name, 20 years old, new officer to one of the best police academies in the state, lived with his mother, Maria, and that was it, the most intriguing thing was that therewas nothing at all. It only heightened Liam's urge to uncover the man, to look at everything that a background search didn't show.
Liam Andino was the leader of the most powerful mafia in the state, he had the drug cartels, the authorities, even the government right where he wanted them, he had money pouring in from all directions, he could have threats disposed of within the hour. He got what he wanted, when he wanted it. And he wanted Parker.
~~~~~
The last place that Parker Lang would be seen was on a security camera in an intersection, his patrol car rolling through on the usual path to the neighborhood woods. That would be the last time that the outsode world saw him. That would be all they had to go off of. A black Mercedes would follow behind minutes later, the windows tinted and the driver blurred from view. When Parker was subdued, a strong arms trapping his own as it wrapped around his chest, a string sedative delivered effortlessly through a syringe into his bloodstream, the boy didn't even have a chance to struggle. The moment that he was dragged away, loaded into the back of a car and taken from the world, that moment, would go unseen, hidden away in the dark. Nobody would ever know what happened to the inconspicuous, boring young man. Nobody could come up with an explanation for why he would have been a target for an attack.
The hard truth was simply that...he wasn't...until he was. And by then, it was too late.
*A/N* Alright, that's the first chapter for this short story, I just wanted it to be a quick introduction to the story. Anyways, I will not be updating this for a few weeks and updates might be slow or infrequent as I do have another book that I'm working on currently, but this shouldn't take me too long to finish. The request for this story came from @camistra8847 if you wanted to check them out. Thank you for reading, the next chapter will hopefully be out in a few weeks. Bye!
