I felt enchantment long ago,
Love's magic that forever glows,
A tender flame I used to know,
In moments I couldn't compose.

But now, within my treasured past,
It lingers, memories steadfast,
A symphony that couldn't last,
Yet forever in my heart's repast.

In youth, I didn't truly see,
The value of this gift to me,
A love that sets the spirit free,
Now crystal clear in hindsight's sea.

Oh, how I rue not holding tight,
To that pure love, once shining bright,
Its absence haunts both day and night,
I yearn for it with all my might.

I wish that I had understood,
Love's magic, rare and oh so good,
No longer held, yet once it stood,
A wiser life, love's truth pursued.
