It Was You All Along

I came home crying and didn’t know why
I didn’t have time to cry
I had to hide
I had to crawl inside
I came home happy and didn’t know why
I didn’t have time to enjoy the moment
I had to jump into action and be ready for movement
I came home scared and didn’t know why
I didn’t have time to tell you my fear
You didn’t want to hear
I came home sniffling and didn’t know why
You would say stop crying and I did not know why I couldn’t cry
But now I do
Now I know it was you all along
You stuffed me in and didn’t want me to grow
You didn’t want me to know
You wanted me sheltered
You wanted me for yourself
To make yourself feel better, you pretended you cared
When people were around
When there was no one there
I was nobody you cared for
I was nobody you wanted to be around
It was you all along
Bullies at school may have been the issue at school but the root of the problem was at home with you
You were the problem all along
