"It's fine." I watch him say as he holds back his tears. "I don't need your pity." He continued in a shaky voice, "everything was fine, you're making a fuss out of nothing." His reddish, fluffy brown hair rustled in the quiet wind of 11:34 pm, and his skin glowed underneath the soft, yellow-orange light from the street lamp. I knew he wasn't okay. His younger sister had been in the hospital for the past 6 months. He never really talked about his sister's health, just subtle mentions on whether or not he was going to visit her later, or whether he was going to get a gift for her. But lately, he has been really quiet. Just about everyone in our friend group had noticed. He never talked much after his sister got sick, but this was different. "You know that if there's anything wrong you can tell me.. right?" I say looking to see what's wrong. "I'm FINE!" He screamed in agony. I saw tears running down his face and his eyes all puffy and red. He stood there, like a statue. Stiff and expressionless. The only reason you knew he was even alive was from the faucet in his eyes. He needed solace. I watched him as he turned to walk away. "Stop!" I screamed, unknowing of what to do next. He just kept walking. I watched him as he disappeared from the streetlamp. I couldn't bear to see him like this. He was perfectly fine before. What happened? What went wrong? A bunch of memories and thoughts rushed through my brain as I watched him fade away. I can't. It hurts to see him sad, upset. He became farther away every second. Out of reach. Alone. I wanted to do something, I didn't want this to happen again. Witnessing someone important to me slip away as I stand there, watching. I couldn't see him anymore, the darkness of the night had already devoured him. I ran forward to catch up with him, but it was too late. He was already gone.
