"You do not belong here," I told the man heartlessly. "This place is for the great. For the powerful. For the inspired," I paused, giving him time to absorb.
"Unfortunately, you are none of the above. Will I have to kill you for you to understand or shall we both go on with our lives?" I glared menacingly and he took a step back.
"I would be most glad to leave," he replied. "Perfect. Now will I have to make arrangements or will you leave on your own?" I picked up the knife at my waist. "I can leave on my own. I know the way out," the man said. I lifted the knife and trailed it down his face, blood trickling behind. "Let that be a reminder to never come here again," I said.
He nodded and walked with every shred of dignity he had. The audacity. I let it go, stress isn't healthy.
Angelo peeked his head out from the distance.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
"I always am."
I walked further down the hallway to a solid iron door and opened it without struggle. A woman lunged at me and without a second thought, my knife went through her heart. She gasped and fell to the floor, clutching her chest. I pulled my knife out and rubbed the blood on the wall. I stood over her. "Who are you?" I asked. No reply. She hit her head on the floor and blood dripped from there as well. "Do I have to repeat myself?" She shook her head and muttered unintelligible words. Angelo put his hands on my shoulders from behind me and nudged her with his foot. "That's the woman who tried to kill the boss. She was hired by a group. That's all we could get out of her," he said. I breathed heavily. How was it possible to mess up an interrogation? "You should've done better," I told Angelo as the woman took her last breath. He sighed. "I know. She was my birth mother and... and you know..." I glared at him. "Actually, I don't know. Would you care to explain why you brought your emotions here? You are at work. Leave those at home," I said. He nodded. "Alright."
He hesitated and then spoke. "Are we still on for that date tonight?" I looked away. "Something came up and I am unavailable. But you do know that this is only for power, right? We make up the most powerful couple ever. We don't have to fake it that much. You don't have to take me out. It's not like either of us has time for that stuff."
He shrugged. "Yeah you're right. I have stuff to do too." I smiled and left, locking the door behind me. I couldn't stand feelings. They might get in the way and I don't want to take the risk. Better have him die now than later. I double checked the lock to make sure it would hold and left the building, leaving him trapped.
