Let me make one thing clear. Juju isn't poor. Her mother has a good paying office job and her grandparents are both government officials.
Saturday. The day she had been waiting for. The day her mother had been waiting for, and the day the guys had been so excited about. Seungmin dragged his body out of bed to help with the preparations, much to Chan's annoyance and Chan insisted on assisting Jeongin, much to Jeongin's horror.
The poor boy had yet to control his face and temperature and colour changes, when he was around Chan for even 5 minutes. Every time their hands brushed, or when Chan helped him with the lifting, his face would turn a hot pink, and everytime that happened, Chan would smile at him, ruffle his hair or send a wink his way. That man loved teasing the kid and the kid hated how much he loved it.
In the hospital, Minju was packing up their stuff and heading down to pay for the expenses.
"Eomma. You're really okay with the guys coming over....right?"
"Of course!!! Your lovely friends are always welcome." She so badly wanted to make amends. "Now, which one are you choosing?"
"Huh?" She turned around, confused.
"Which of the boys are you choosing?"
"Eomma!!!!!!" The girl covered her face with her hands and whined. She was adorable. She looked exactly like her ex husband: cute.
That did something to her. For some reason, her blood started boiling. Somehow, she managed to keep her emotions under control so as to not do something stupid to her daughter. Things were finally looking so well for them....and that jerk had to ruin it.
When they reached their front step, Minju realised that their front door was unlocked.
Fearing the worst, she quietly took out one of the loose pile of wooden sticks in the corner and assumed a position.
"Eomma. Stay behind me."
Chivalrous. Just like her father.
The wooden stick Minju held had blood on it. Minju's blood. From when she threw her against the table. She had left her unconscious and bleeding. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts away, she softly pulled her daughter back and opened the door.
"Minnie. Could you get the lights please?"
Still confused and on guard, Minju turned on the lights only to be met with the biggest shock of her life.
"SURPRISEEEEE!!!!!!!!!" Everyone yelled at her and Jisung held the cake for her, after winning at rock-paper-scissors. Seungmin held a huge bouquet of Jasmines and there were presents on the table. Chan went up to her and put on a conical hat on her head. All of them, including her mother, started singing "Happy birthday" and Minho helped light the candles.
This was perfect. Never before had she felt so loved. They remembered the birthday that she forgot. She bore out the candles and cheered with everyone. Her mother took the cake to the kitchen to cut it evenly while the boys took Minju to the couch to open presents.
Chan had gifted her the complete set of the Harry Potter book series, a journal and a fancy pen. Changbin's gift was also a bunch of novels she ranted to him about once. The real surprise was that he annotated all of them. He even got her a fancy metallic floral bookmark.
Jisung got her coupons to the cheesecake factory and pretty white trainers, and a jade hairpin. Felix told her he baked her cake, earning him a kiss on the cheek and glares from everyone else. He also got her a pair of the prettiest earrings ever. Jeongin was proud of his gift choices and it was evident in his tone. He bought her a Loki Funkopop, and Loki themed jewellery. Squealing with delight, she pulled the younger closer and hugged him tight.
Seungmin got her a cookbook, and a pretty lavender blouse. Pink slowly started creeping up her face as he showed her a fancy, exquisite blue dangly hairpin. The hairpin had Jasmines on it and it looked too precious and delicate to even hold.
"Seungminnie........ This... This is..... You're...wow."
"I'm wow? Thanks Juju. You're wow too." He smiled and patted her head.
"Ehem.... This is awkward." Hyunjin rubbed the back of his neck with one hand and held out his other. The exact same design, but it was pink.
"Well........." Minho mirrored his move and held out a purple one.
"See this is why I wanted to hold a meeting regarding gifts!!!!!" Felix complained. "Who was the one who said that we wouldn't gift her the same gift so we didn't have to hold the meeting."
"They're not the same!!" Hyunjin pouted and looked at the pin.
"They're exactly the same!!! Just the colours are different!!!!" Felix retaliated and she couldn't help but laugh at how childish they were being.
"Besides!! That's not the only thing I wanted to gift her." He murdered under his breath.
Her mother appeared with the cake and saw all the presents she had received. Why didn't she receive presents like this when she was in high school. She was just as beautiful as her daughter, if not more.
"Omo....this is such a pretty dress. Tell you what. Minnie. Go wear the dress and the shoes and this hairpin and the guys can take you out." Her mother picked up the pink hairpin and the clothes and sent her up.
"Eomma. Are you sure?"
"Yes!! Now. Go before I change my mind."
The moment Minju walked down the stairs, it felt like everything was in slow motion. The wind started blowing from nowhere and a bright light shone behind her.... That was until Chan shook Minho out of his trance.
She was the most beautiful person in the world. Jeong Minju had him completely wrapped around her finger and he would have it no other way. She smiled at him, and then at Chan.
"Juju..... You look.... Wow." Jisung had this surprised look on his face.
Minju turned a bright pink and played with the hem of her dress. "Thanks. Eomma. We'll be back in an hour. Thanks so much for letting us go."
"No worries. I'll make sure dinner is ready by the time you get back."
They were walking around the city. It was really lively this time of the year and the group caught the attention of a lot of people. Some bold girls came over and asked for the guys numbers but they were politely rejected. Guys didn't dare to even look at her for too long since Changbin would glare into their souls. However,
"Jeong Minju?"
That voice. She stiffened up. She couldn't move. She wanted to run but she couldn't move. "It is you. It's been so long!! I've missed you!!!" Why are you here.
