Looking for a great mana build?! Well I used to be a very powerful Mage in Terraria so I will say my setup and believe me it works.
Armor-Spectre hood (No mask, life steal is key for a Mage build since there's low defense.
-Spectre robe
-Spectre pants
Don't mind the low defense the life steal makes a balance.
Weapons-Blizzard staff (Drop from ice queen in the frost moon)
-Bat scepter (Drop from pumpking in the pumpkin moon)
-Infernal fork (Rare drop 1/30 from diablos in the hardmode dungeon)
-Shadow beam staff (Rare drop 1/30 from necromancers in the hardmode dungeon)
NOW YOU 100% MUST GET THIS WEAPON FOR A OP MAGE!
-Nimbus rod (Rare drop from nimbus that spawns when it rains) To op for life steal must need!!
Accessories-Magic cuffs (When taking damage you get 40+ mana so when you get attacked you get infinite mana way op)
-Sorcerer emblem (Extra 15% magic damage)
-Anhk shield (Immune to knock back, fire blocks and most debuffs)
-Cross necklace or starvail (Immune to multiple attacks for a short time.
-Lighting boots (this can replace the cross necklace if you're running around the world)
-Wings (Any wings but spooky is the best, wings are great for mobility)
This is a over powered set up guys!
