Day Two

" weirdest thing this summer we were supposed to go on a road trip over July 4th weekend which you bailed on at the last minute, is there something you wanna tell me, Pal?" Jughead steps closer to Archie  I don't say anything as I quickly walk back into class seeing Cheryl and her minions sitting at the table next to mine and talking and I catch mid sentence of one of her friends saying it was suspicious that Cheryl's brother didn't die the way she said he did "are you living manikin, suggesting I had something to do with my brother's death?" Cheryl asks putting on a glove for the project  " we're just curious what did the police think happened?"  One says softly " I'll tell you what I told them which is that Jason did fall into the water we both did I made it to shore he didn't.. maybe he made it to the other side of the river, and someone shot him there who knows?" Cheryl snaps and I feel bad for her as the teacher walks in telling us to put on our gear for the day "can I be with Cheryl?" Archie asks "and I wanna be with Betty!!" Veronica states "oh uh I was thinking I'd partner with Kevin" Moose then walks up "actually uh Keller's with me. We like. Talked" Kevin looked worried "oh god" I giggle and wink at Kevin "go get 'em kev" I whisper as Betty moves over to let Veronica sit and Betty and I share a look "once again fate throws us together" Veronica says as I roll my eyes I then jump as someone sits next to me I look to the side and look at Jughead who smiles softly as he sits

"Hey y/n so I was thinking that maybe today you could come to the southside and meet everybody including my father" I nod happily "yeah for sure" he sighs and pulls his hand away as I reach for it and I look at him confused "jug what's wrong?" He looks down " I don't want you to take this the wrong way I do like you, but I like somebody else a little bit more and I don't know where it's going to go for either, so I'm keeping both at a friends distance" I nod softly putting my hands in my lap "okay.. so friends it is!" He nods and smiles softly and I return the smile feeling a bit of pain in my heart soon class ends with me so I g out as I did the project silently and thinking to myself as soon as the bell rings I pack up my things and walk quickly to my locker to put my things away  I get my food and see my sister with Betty and Kevin walking and I quickly walk up avoiding Jughead "so what did Moose want kev?" I say quickly as I walk beside Betty " oh my god I don't think he knows I mean I am devastatingly handsome in that classic pre-accident Montgomery Clift kind of way  and sexuality is fluid but can someone named Moose actually be that fluid?" We all giggle "well I ship it" Veronica says "finally something we agree on" I say holding up my water "well of course you guys would you're big city girls with loose morals" I look at kev a bit hurt "I just meant that Moose has an official girlfriend, Midge  Anyway it's terrible to say but part of me wishes he would just stay in the damn closet" he says as we walk up to the table Archie is sitting at

There's an awkward silence as we all shift a bit on our feet "obviously I do t mean literal closet" he sighs as we all slowly start to sit and I sit by Archie "Archie! Any new material you wanna try out on a very forgiving audience" Veronica says a bit too enthusiastically "I.." she shakes his head "please" Veronica says basically staring lasers into his head then motioning to Betty "would you? I'd love to hear it" Betty says softly "I'm still working on the lyrics so.." he starts playing and probably halfway through the song Betty starts crying and looking at her lap and Veronica starts clapping at Archie finished playing "Betty?" I say softly "are you ok?" Archie asks her and she looks up trying to not cry anymore "I'm supposed to say 'yes' that's what the nice girl always says but.." she stands "No I'm not  I want to be I thought I could be but it's too much too fast Archie.." Betty starts walking away and Archie goes after her and they have an intense conversation and Betty walks away crying and I sigh "good job V  tapping into the old you ruined a  life long friendship." I stand and grab my things not feeling hungry anymore as Veronica looks pissed at me

Soon enough we are at cheer practice doing the same routine for the pep rally over and over again until Cheryl stops us "stand down Vixens and listen up the weather is predicting a downpour the night of the rally but already you're raining on my parade with Jason so present in our collective consciousness  all eyes will be on me  will this beautiful, exotic, hot house, flower, drown under the town scrutiny, or be swamped by her emotions the answer is 'no' and 'no' ladies that said, I need star power I need the pussycats stay loose and limber ladies while I make a call.
