Alex hadn't seen Maria for thirty days and counting. He'd called and texted, and he even tried to call Avery but she never picked up. His messages and calls to Maria never went through, and neither did Schneider's. She'd texted Schneider after she and Alex had argued, telling him she'd be staying at Avery's for a while and then Schneider's text suddenly stopped delivering.

She'd stopped going to school as well. When Alex asked the teachers, they said she'd started doing online school for a little while, so he couldn't even see her there.

He missed her, more than anything. Schneider was in the same boat as Alex, he missed Avery and Maria more than he could express. Neither of them seemed to be getting anywhere with either of them.

Alex was especially upset when he figured out his dad was going got be marrying his fiancé, and Alex thought the wedding would be a perfect opportunity to introduce Maria to his father. Although, Maria already had an unsettling feeling about Alex's father.

Elena had told Maria everything that had happened between her and her father, which made Maria despise him before ever meeting him. Victor told Alex he could bring Maria, without knowing the two weren't speaking.

"She still hasn't texted you?" Elena asked softly, as she helped Alex pin his purple flower to his suit. She knew Maria was a touchy subject for Alex, and she didn't want to upset him. Especially on a day that was supposed to be exciting and joyful.

"No." He replied. Elena could tell Alex was trying to play it off like it was nothing, but she knew it wasn't nothing to him. She knew Alex loved Maria immensely, despite him trying to maintain his cool guy attitude through everything.

"She'll turn up sometime," Elena looked at him reassuringly, "I'm sure of it." But she wasn't sure of it. Actually, she was less than sure. Maria had more than credible reasons for leaving, Elena didn't fault her for that, but with the way Maria hadn't let up and hadn't even messaged Schneider...Elena wasn't sure if she'd come home in the next three months.

"I mean, she has to eventually, right?" He asked his tough guy exterior faltering for just a moment. "I mean, Schneider's her legal guardian, so...she can't stay with Avery forever," He paused, looking at Elena with a hopeful glint in his eyes, "right?"

"Yeah, Schneider wouldn't just let her stay with Avery forever." Alex didn't know if he should believe Elena, she sounded like she was not only trying to convince Alex but also herself. They both knew Schneider didn't like confrontation, and he loved Maria so much that if she wanted to stay with Avery forever then he'd let her. Even if it pained him to do so.

"This sucks." He huffed. "I wanted to introduce her to Dad, whenever he told us he was getting married to Nicole I immediately thought it would've been the perfect opportunity to introduce him and Maria." Elena glanced at him as he spoke, finally finished pinning the flower to his suit pocket.

"I'm sorry, Alex," Elena said softly, an apologetic tone threaded clearly in her voice. Alex quickly snapped out of the moping mood, gulping harshly as he glanced away from Elena.

"It's whatever," He shrugged, "c'mon, we've gotta help Mamí." Elena frowned, knowing he was just trying to divert the attention away from him.

"Yeah," She replied with a small nod, "let's go."

Alex trudged through his father's wedding like a happy camper. He gave his and Nicole's family smiles and jokes, and Alex thought his toast was perfect. But he knew it would've been better with Maria by his side.

He wondered what she was doing, how she was doing, and if she was thinking about him. He sighed, squeezing the bridge of his nose. No matter how hard he tried, Maria was always on his mind. He wasn't sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing. But all of that was put on hold when Elena expressed her hatred for her toast.

He listened to the toast she wished she could've said, although Alex was glad she hadn't, and her regrets and feelings of uncomfortability towards the whole situation. He consoled her, hugging her and making small jokes about how glad he was that she hadn't said that toast.

"I'm sorry," His head bolted up, "am I interrupting something?" He spun around, his eyes immediately sticking to Maria. She was there, really there. There, in a light purple dress that fell down to her knees, her hair curled and a bright smile on his face.

"Maria." He sighed, running towards her and wrapping his arms around her waist as he spun her around. Small giggles fell from her lips as he placed her back on the ground, while Alex tried to sputter out another sentence. "How did you..." He'd never told Maria that his dad was getting remarried, and he had no clue how she knew where the wedding was being held.

"I told her." Elena smiled, walking up to the two. "I gave her the address and everything." Alex smiled, looking back at Maria with disbelief and happiness swirling in his eyes.

"Thank you, Elena," Alex said, still looking at Maria. "A-And I'm really sorry, Maria, I shouldn't have said all of that. Any of that, actually, I-I was just...scared. I didn't want you to leave me, and it still happened anyways." Maria smiled and shook her head, standing on the tips of her toes to press a kiss to his cheek.

"I'm sorry too." Alex felt like boulders had been lifted from his shoulders, his body relaxing as Maria slid her hand into his. "Now, Elena," She started, looking at Elena, "how am I acting towards your dad? Am I giving him a dirty look, spitting in his drink...?" Elena chuckled and shook her head.

"No, everything's fine." She replied, the corners of her eyes crinkling softly as she smiled.

"Speaking of," Alex spoke up, "do you wanna meet my dad?" He asked, looking down at Maria as the three walked out of the small chapel room. Maria bit down on her lip, thinking as she drew in a large breath through her nose.

"Is it okay if I go and see Schneider first?" She asked, gulping softly. She hadn't spoken to him in forever, and she had parted ways with Avery as they went to find their partners.

"Yeah, of course!" Alex replied, nodding slightly. He guessed that she had spoken to Schneider before she saw him, but he must've been wrong.

Maria slowly walked up to the dance floor, seeing Avery and Schneider slowly dancing lovingly. Schneider glanced away from Avery hearing someone walking towards them, he then had to look again when his brain finally registered that it was Maria. He quickly pulled her into a hug, feeling incredibly relieved when she hugged him back.

"I missed you so much, Maria." He whispered, caressing her hair softly.

"I missed you too, Schneider."

~

Maria was slightly nervous when she met Victor, but she was even more nervous when Alex asked her to dance with him. Another slow song began to play, couples joined hands and walked onto the dance floor.

His hands rested on her waist, while her arms wrapped around his neck. Her body was filled with nervousness as her cheeks grew pink. She gulped harshly, looking up at him.

"I'm sorry," She started softly, "for smacking you, I shouldn't have done that." Alex shrugged, just happy that he was with Maria again.

"I deserved it." He admitted, brushing a string of her hair behind her ear. "All that matters is that you're here with me now."
