[22] Decision

Y/n Pov:

It was morning again and never slept that good in weeks! I was able to sleep through the whole night, so I was awake pretty early in the morning. So early that I even notice how Onceler was quitely standing up to get dressed and then to got to the kitchen, trying not to wake me like he always does.

After getting ready I followed him to the kitchen. To his suprise, that he didn't had to wake me up. "So you slept well tonight ad I did?" He asked me, smiling, while he made us breakfast. "Yes, I did. It really felt good to get proper rest!" I said, hugging him from the back that was followed by him chuckling. "That's good to hear."

Onceler stopped talking for a bit "I.." he sighted "I thought about the company again. To be honest, it would be nice to live with you like this, without all this stress. Even though I really wanted to bring my company to the top, it dosen't look that well anyway, so continuing seems almost pointless and I'm also scared that I won't be able to control my greediness forever.. So I think it would be a good idea to maybe sell the company, you know?"

I caressed his stomach while I listend to him. On one side I was happy he would try to go this way, but on the other I felt like he doesn't deserve this. He should be able to enable his dream further. But we had to do go one path, because there was no way we could keep going like that.

My hand got back to hug him while my head was resting on his back. "I'm happy you thought this through again. But I want you to know that you shouldn't just do it because of me, but also because you would want it. You can think about it a little while longer if you want to too, okay?" He turned around, so I let go of him. A genuine smile met my eyes, looking down to me. "Thank you, y/n. That was exactly what I wanted to hear! But I don't have to think about it any further. I'm gonna go it, I'm sure of it"

I smiled back at him "So we can live the rest of our life together, in peace? Gone of all buissness stuff?" Onceler nodded and laughed a bit at my reaction "I'm so happy! We could spend so much time together without thinking about anything. It's like a literal dream!" He patted my head as he listend to me "I think the same. It really just sounds like a dream. But now we have to eat, yes?" Enjoying the pats I nodded.

When we were done eating and got to work, we discussed how we wanted to deal with our desicion. Should we shut it down completely, sell it or let somebody else take care of it while it would be still ours? There was a lot to do and we even had to stop the Thneed making, so it would be easier to sell the whole thing. We knee that nobody would want to buy a company that was on the nerve of death, if you want to call it like that.

While Onceler was talking with our partners and took care of the production, I looked for potential people that would buy the company. It tooks some days, days where I couldn't even go to the artistic club, because we worked so hard for it, but we actually managed to find somebody that would buy it from us.

Even though we would sell it and it wasn't in our resposebilty what would happen with the company in the future, we still had requirements that had to be followed or we wouldn't sell it. The most importend one was the rule to not chop down even one tree, to keep the safety of the forest. If this isn't followed, all the rights are going back to Onceler and we have to find somebody else.

It might be risky, because there always will be the chance that this could actually happen in the future, but I didn't do research for nothing. The next CEO is the Eco friendliest person I could find, that was also interested in this company, so there should be no worries that they would want to chop down any trees. I mean, I they want to keep the image.

After all this work there was only one thing left to do. Meeting up with the future CEO of Oncelers company, to sign one last contract. Hopefully the last one. With that if wouldn't be much longer ours.

Onceler was pretty nervous about this. This was his dream he gave away. He was scared what could potentially change about it and if he still would change his mind later on. But nothing of that was left anymore after some soft words that he shouldn't overthink it that much and that everything is going to be fine. And everything was fine. The whole meeting went actually well, so the contract sign wasn't far away.

With 240 million the company was sold and there was no turning back now. It felt kind of wrong doing this and especially getting so much money for it. Maybe it wasn't even a fair prize.

They would transfer it after a week, so we still had some work to do there. It was mainly getting everything ready to take over and saying goodbye to everything we build. But when the last day came it would also be the last time we could sit in our office. We took all our stuff with us, thinking about how this company got this big after just a year. It was crazy thinking about it.

We enjoyed it here, even though we had some though times. Especially Onceler felt happy. It was his dream to be somebody, to achieve something in his life, something great. I was proud of him that he made it this far. At me as well. I would have never thought that I would end up here after all that happend before I met Onceler. How things can change so quickly, huh.

As we drove home, I looked at Onceler. He looked happy. That was the moment I was sure we did the right thing and I was exited on what the future would bring to us. I was also curious how his company would evolve after some years. But for now we should just enjoy our lifes. From all of this we have enough money to actually live the rest of our lifes without thinking about money once.

When we went inside I just couldn't help it but gave Onceler a kiss "I love you" I randomly said. He didn't seemed to be surprised and just smiled back at me "I love you too, sweety." And kissed back. Thats how a chapter of our lifes came to an end.
