"She wishes to meet you soon actually, thought of inviting you to dinner with us," Edmund flashed his dazzling smile, nodding approvingly at the idea. "How'd you feel about that?"

"Oh!" Charlotte fumbled over her feet and clung on to him. "I'd love to! I mean... I'm sure she's lovely, but I hope I'd leave a decent impression."

"Decent? She'll love you!" Edmund glossed over her concern. "And how're matters at home?"

"Aunt Jill and I have been sharing stories from our reigns," Charlotte reported jubilantly, "it's nice to see her reminiscing the happy memories and reconnecting with it, and listening to me tell my own stories."

"I'm glad it's going well."

The two continued admiring the sky, spotting the radiant crescent planted among the stars. They occasionally expressed their appreciation for the miraculously tranquil hour, a rare sight since the war had ended.

"I'm really grateful that you decided to come back with me," Edmund broke the silence.

She was silent for a moment, her eyes glued to the pavement as she pondered over his words.

"I've always seen my parents' last departure for Earth as a mistake, giving up Narnia for a short-lived life on Earth."

He listened to her without judgment, as she continued speaking.

"But from what I remembered, they had a blissful marriage here. It never once hindered them from riding the clouds to the skies, reliving their adventures through their storytelling to me," Charlotte smiled at the memories, shifting her focus to him, "and that's what I'd want with you one day."

Edmund was struck dumb at her insinuations. He fumbled over his words, hardly containing his ebullience behind his wide beam. "I— I want that too, with you."

"So, are we there yet?" She prompted, her head wandering around.

"Well, I figured I should build my finances for the next few years — we'd be of age by then, I reckon — but I've seen some sophisticated rings—"

"Edmund, we've got plenty of time," Charlotte broke into an amused grin at his loquacious chatter, "but I meant, are we arriving soon?"

"Oh! Right! Almost," he led her into a park, pausing right before some bushes. "Remember our first dance back in Narnia?"

Charlotte nodded, a sweet smile growing as she caught on to his drift.

"Well, it's not exactly in Narnia, but..." He gently pushed through the shrubs and bushes, leading her through. "it's quite a hidden gem, and I hope it's to your appeal."

She gasped at the effulgent ambience before her as they emerged into a secret spot, her breath taken away by the exquisite sight. The hidden garden was decorated with an array of flowers, surrounded by wisteria trees, and accessorised with a lake that reflected the crescent moon above. Mellow melodies swayed from a gramophone on a picnic mat planted before the lake, clearly set up by her beau.

It was a landscape painting brought to life.

"Oh, Edmund..." Charlotte absorbed the scenery before her. "It's just as magical... You brought Narnia here for me..."

He held out his palm. "Care for a dance with the Just King, my Selfless Queen?"

She rested her hand on his, and he led her to the wide open space. With her fingers resting on his soft grasp, he slowly eased his palm around her waist, leading her through their circling steps. He noticed a bright blush coating her cheeks, and a radiant glint in her eyes before she shyly shielded it from him. Her mannerisms ignited his heart with a fervent flame — what a feeling indeed, to be a king by her side, holding her in his arms.
