Kit tried to put her eyeliner on, needing to get ready for the dinner that her mother is forcing her to go to; every time that she brought the eyeliner pencil near her eye, tears would start to fall from her eyes. All Kit wanted to do was to run, cry, scream, paint, and break something. She doesn't want to play right into her mothers hands and marry this Graydon Hastur guy for some stupid business merger.

The tears wouldn't stop coming, no matter how many times Kit angrily wiped them away, it was like they would never stop. Kit didn't need this right now, what she needed to was to finish getting ready so she can go meet her future husband, starting the chain of events to make her life miserable.

"Stop crying!" Kit yelled at herself in the mirror. It didn't work, all Kit could see was red puffy eyes staring back at her, tears still dripping down her cheeks. Her skin was paler than normal, and even though she did her makeup to bring color into her face. Kit's hair was a disaster, well a disaster to her, her hair went just a ½ inch past her shoulders and has been curled. Not a single hair was out of place; giving it a nice clean look that Kit hated with all her heart and soul, because it looked nothing like her. Finally, when she saw the defeated look in her eyes, her eyeliner became forgotten as she broke down about what her life has come to.

Sitting on the floor, crying, all Kit could think about was how she became a shell of her former self; letting Sorcha take advantage of that and controlling Kit as she once did when Kit was a child. But Kit was no longer a child, she was 24, with a whole life planned out for her. Until 7 months ago, that was when the crash was, when Sorcha decided to intervene in Kit's life again. She has lost so much more that day than her small memory problems, sleep, and sense of smell. She lost her freedom that she had, and her sense of identity.

Anger took over from the heartbreak that Kit was feeling as she stood up. She was mad at her mom, at the drunk driver that changed her life, at the fact that she didn't take a ride from Jade that day, and she was angry at the fact that she was still crying when she looked back into the mirror.

"I said stop crying, damnit!" Kit shouted at the top of her lungs, as she punched her mirror. Shattering it into pieces. Numbly, Kit sat on her bed, watching as the glass in her hand hid in all the blood that slowly started to leak out of her hand. Kit didn't know how much time had passed, she didn't care about being late to the dinner, because all she could see was red. She was only shaken out of her thoughts when Jade walked into her room.

"Oh my god! Kit, what happened?" Jade ran to Kit and grabbed her bleeding hand. After careful examination, Jade looked up to Kit. "How did this happen?" She asked more softly, as if she was scared to set something off in Kit.

Kit didn't know how to respond to Jade, to her, everything went in a blur. All she could really remember was that she needed to stop crying to get ready for the dinner with the Hasturs. She just shrugged her shoulders, not knowing what to say. Jade sighed and lightly stood up, bringing Kit up with her in tow.

"Come on, let's clean up your hand and wrap it up." Jade said, walking to Kit's bathroom. Not wanting to fight Jade, Kit followed after Jade into her bathroom.

It was silent as Jade was using the pliers to take the glass out of Kit's hand. With Jade concentrating on Kit's hand, Kit figured that not talking would be the best option for the both of them. Jade seemed to think otherwise.

"Do I want to know why you punched the mirror?" Jade asked, once again trying to figure out what happened. Kit knew this too, and she also knew that when it comes to someone that Jade cares about; she will get her answer one way or another. Sighing in defeat, Kit relented and told Jade what happened.

"I punched the mirror because it was mocking me for crying." Kit mumbled embarrassed, after saying it out loud; it probably was a ridiculous thing. "Go ahead, laugh at me or yell at me, I know that it sounds stupid." She said after this realization. Kit sat there waiting for Jade to laugh at her for being delusional, or yell at her about how stupid she was for punching the mirror. But it never came.

Instead she felt Jade put her hand on the small of Kit's back, causing Kit to look at Jade's face. Her face wasn't filled with laughter or rage like Kit thought. Her eyes were soft and had small tears in them, she looked at Kit like she was the most precious thing to Jade. Jade's face was filled with compassion, Kit realized, and warmth.

"I'm not going to laugh or yell at you, Kit," Jade said, her british accent heavy with emotion. "You are going through stuff that nobody should have to go through. You are allowed to feel your own feelings." Kit didn't believe that part, but she'll let Jade think that she believed it. "Although, punching a mirror might not be the best option." Jade laughed, Kit should have known that it was coming; she guessed that she really hoped that Jade wouldn't bring it up.

It was once again silent between them, but this time it wasn't tense. It was peaceful, like a soft summer morning; where you sit out on the porch with your cup of coffee and listen to the birds singing. Of course, there were no birds singing in Kit's bathroom, but she swore that she heard some chirping birds at that moment when she looked into Jade's eyes. Kit suddenly thought about what it would be like to kiss Jade; to see if her lips were as soft as they look. Kit looked away from Jade, shaking her thoughts deep down her head.

"And we are done!" Jade sighs in relief as she leans her back on the bathroom wall. Kit looked at her hand to see that it was all wrapped up in a cohesive wrap . She was surprised at how fast it had taken to clean up her wound, but then time might have slipped by Kit as she thought of ways that she could casually kiss Jade without ruining their friendship. "Now that we have dealt with this, we should probably get ready for dinner with your mom and the Hasturs." Jade said while getting up.

Kit has completely forgotten the whole reason behind her breakdown, to focus on her best friend. She didn't want to go to the dinner, she didn't want to marry Graydon; looking at Jade as she turned around asking a silent question with her raised eyebrows 'you coming'? Kit knew that she would be fine as long as she had Jade right by her side through it all.

"Alright but you have to do my eyeliner, that stuff seems to hate me today." Kit joked, walking right up to Jade.

"As you wish, my princess." Jade joked, grabbing the eyeliner pencil on the floor. She sat on Kit's bed, tapping on the side; inviting Kit to sit beside her. "I'll make sure you will look like the stubborn princess you are."

"My hero." Kit says as she sat by Jade. When Jade grabbed Kit's hand; her heart skipped a beat, and a contempt feeling washed over Kit. 'Yeah,' Kit thought, 'everything will be fine.'
