I hear running... Screaming, Crying... I keep fading in and out of consciousness. There is a burning pain in my thigh. All I can see is the dark stone paths we run on, heading away from town... I can smell the scent of ash and soot fade out from the air as we head farther from our town. Soon after, we reach a stopping point, and I'm placed on the cold ground, pressing up against a cave wall. My eyes can finally rest, and I see my leg pulsate near where the wound is. My father, the one who carried me here, looks on with horror. I hear him and my mother talk.

"We need to put him out!" Father shouted. " How DARE you, Ivan! You would sacrifice our son to those... Things!?!" Mother seemed to be on the verge of tears... " We CAN NOT risk him killing all of us, Emilia! Is that, what you want!?! For us to die with him!?!" Father's voice cracks with shame and regret. "HE'S JUST A CHILD!!!" Mother begins to burst into hysterical tears... Father is choking back waves of pain. "You know it has to be done, Emilia. I'm sorry." Father takes a rifle from nearby.

My skin soon becomes shrouded in a thin layer of fur, and my wound has begun to heal already. My eyesight seems to get clearer, but my brain is clouded in a fog... I can't think at all... "No! NO!! IVAN DON'T DO IT, PLEASE!!!!" My mother shouted as one of the tribe members held her back. I watched as my father loaded a silver bullet and aimed for my head.

Something happened to me as he pulled the trigger. I remember an insatiable hunger in my stomach, felt as if my body moved on its own. I remember more screaming and crying. I could hear my mother the loudest... By the time I woke back up, I was full, and nowhere near the cave I was in.
